Mammals, especially those living in nature, wild conditions exhibit such cycles only during favourable seasons in their reproductive phase and they are called seasonal breeder........And many other mammals are reproductively active throughout their reproductive phase and hence they are called continuous breeders

Aryan Hari 7 years, 6 months ago

Animals or mammals can be classified into continous breeding because in mammals the reproductive hormones are always active in male if they grow old and active till there death but in females the reproductive hormones are only active till the age of 50 the reproduction can be done every month that is called continous breeding but in dogs or cat the reproduction hormones are active only in specific period of time or of specific month of period that is called seasonal breeding

Garima Chakraborty 7 years, 6 months ago

In continuous breeders like humans....the cycle which occurs in the female group is menstrual cycle .Menstrual cycle is a continuous cycle and goes on throughout .Thus, those species are called continuous breeders as they can breed at any time of the year. Whereas, in seasonal breeders like dogs...the cycle which occurs in their female group is oestrous cycle which occurs only in a particular season or particular part of the year.Hence, such organisms are called seasonal breeders as they could breed only in that part of the year when the oestrous cycle takes place in them.
