In case of pushing a roller, if you resolve the applied force into horizontal and vertical directions, effective weight of the roller increases.

On the other hand in case of pulling force, if you resolve the applied force into horizontal and vertical direction, the effective weight of the roller decreases.

Thus, we conclude that it is easier to pull a lawn roller as compared to push it.

A motion that repeats itself again and again at regular intervals of time is called a periodic motion. All oscillatory motions are periodic motions but all periodic motions are not oscillatory. For example, the motion of the moon around the earth is periodic but not oscillatory.

A particle is said to execute simple harmonic motion if it’s acceleration is directly proportional to its displacement from the equilibrium position and is always directed towards the equilibrium position. Simple harmonic motion is a straight line motion and it requires a restoring force.

Surface energy is the work per unit area done by the force that creates the new surface. The molecules on the surface of a liquid are packed due to unbalanced inter-molecular forces than the molecules at the center. This means there is a high energy density at the surface of a liquid.
