The distance travelled between the time when someone decides to stop a vehicle moving, and the time when the vehicle completely stops.The stopping distance depends on several factors, including the road surface and the driver's reflexes.
To be a safe driver you need to understand the factors that affect a car's stopping distance. The stopping distance depends on two factors:
Thinking distance - It takes time for a driver to react to a situation. During this reaction time the car carries on moving. The thinking distance is the distance travelled in between the driver realising he needs to brake and actually braking.
Braking distance - The braking distance is the distance taken to stop once the brakes are applied.
stopping distance = thinking distance + braking distance

Dissipation of energy is a process in which energy is used or lost without accomplishing useful work, as friction causing loss of mechanical energy.It is the result of an irreversible process that takes place in homogeneous thermodynamic systems. A dissipative process is a process in which energy (internal, bulk flow kinetic, or system potential) is transformed from some initial form to some final form.
The capacity of the final form to do mechanical work is less than that of the initial form. For example, heat transfer is dissipative because it is a transfer of internal energy from a hotter body to a colder one.
The loss of kinetic energy of moving water due to internal turbulence, bottom friction, large rocks, debris, or other obstacles that impede flow.

- The main difference between inertial and non-inertial is the application of Newton's first law of motion If the first law of motion is applicable then that frame is called Inertial frame of reference and if not applicable then that frame is called as non-inertial frame of reference.
- Inertial frame has no acceleration with respect to ground, while non inertial has some acceleration w.r.t. ground.
Inertial Frame of Reference: Inertial frames are ones which are at rest or moving with uniform velocity with respect to fixed stars. For an observer in such a frame of reference Newton's second law of motion is valid.
Ex: A train moving with uniform velocity is an inertial frame.
Non Inertial Frame of Reference: A non inertial frame is one which is accelerated ( linearly or due to rotation) with respect to fixed stars. Newton's second law of motion is not valid in such a frame of reference, unless we introduce a force called pseudo - force.
Ex: A freely falling elevator may be taken as a non inertial frame.
