When you leave the ball it is attracted toward the centre of the of the Earth due to gravitational force of attraction but at the centre small g becomes zero but due to its inertia the ball moves a bit away from the centre in in the same direction but as soon as it moves a distance the gravitational force of attraction attracts it towards the centre of earth thus causing it to oscillate in the same manner therefore its motion is considered SHM
