For total internal reflection to occur, 2 conditions must be met:
1. The index of refraction must decrease across the boundary in the direction of light refraction.
2. The angle of incidence of the light ray must exceed the critical angle of the interface.

The coefficient of friction depends only on the surfaces in contact and is independent of the force with which the surfaces are in touch with each other. So, the coefficient of friction remains unchanged even when the weight of the body is doubled.

Pressure is defined as the physical force exerted on an object. The force applied is perpendicular to the surface of objects per unit area. The basic formula for pressure is F/A (Force per unit area). Unit of pressure is Pascals (Pa). Types of Pressures are Absolute, Atmospheric, Differential, and Gauge Pressure.

Absolute Zero is defined as minimum absolute temperature of an ideal gas.
- If we plot pressure versus temperature we get a straight line and if weextend the line backwards to the x-axis as shown in the graph below. The minimumtemperature is found to be 273.15 °C (experimentally) andthis value is known as absolute zero.
- The relation between the temperature in kelvin and in Celsius scale is given by
T = tC + 273.15

Bulk Modulus
- Bulk modulus is the ratio of hydraulic stress to the corresponding hydraulic strain.
- Denoted by ‘B’
- B = -p/(ΔV/V)
- Where p =hydraulic stress, ΔV/V = hydraulic strain
(-) ive signs show that the increase in pressure results in decrease in volume.
- S.I. Unit :- N/m2 or Pascal(Pa)
- B(solids) > B(liquids) >B(gases)

Coefficient of kinetic friction is a well known word in physics. When an object is in motion, the resisting force will try to stop the motion of the object. The friction occurs between the two surfaces when they are in motion relatively to each other. The friction force between the surfaces transforms the kinetic energy into heat energy. From the coefficient of friction, the idea of the roughness of the surface can be determined.
To measure the frictional force, coefficient of friction is used. There are three types of coefficient of frictions i.e. coefficient of kinetic friction, coefficient of static friction and coefficient of rolling friction.
Here, the topic is coefficient of kinetic friction. The expression for the coefficient of kinetic friction is,

Here,
is the kinetic friction force,
is the coefficient of kinetic friction and
is the normal force acting on the object.
Thus, the coefficient of friction between the two surfaces can be defined as the ratio of the frictional force between the object and the surface to the normal force action on the object.
The coefficient of kinetic friction has no unit as the coefficient of kinetic friction is the ratio of two forces.
When the coefficient of friction value is high, the stopping distance of the moving object will become less. On the other hand, if the coefficient of friction value is low, the stopping distance of the moving object will become high.
