If two objects are moving in parallel their relative velocity can be calculated. For example, two cars are moving in the same direction along a road. Car A is travelling at +30 m/s and Car B is travelling at +20 m/s. Their relative velocity is 30 – 20 = +10 m/s.

We know that, {tex}v = \frac { d x } { d t }{/tex}
{tex}v = \frac { d } { d t } ( a + b t ^2){/tex}= 2bt = 5t m/s   (i)
at t = 0, from equation (i) we have v = 0,
at t = 2 from equation (i) we have  v = 10 m/s
Average velocity = {tex}\frac { x ( 3 ) - x ( 2 ) } { 3 - 2 } = \frac { a + 9 b - a - 4 b } { 1 }{/tex}
= {tex}5 \times b = 5 \times 2.5{/tex}= 12.5 m/s
