J.J Thomson gave a model to explain the structure of the atom. He proposed that an atom looks like a plum pudding. In which the positive charge is uniformly distributed all over as like the base of the pudding and the negatively charged electrons are scattered like the embedded dry fruits all over the plum pudding

If any of the molecular orbital contains unpaired electrons, it is regarded as paramagnetic. Since O2 has (pi*2Px1=pi*2Py1) config. its paramagnetic while O2²- has (pi*2Px=pi*2Py²) config. it is diamagnetic.

In the 6th period the existing sub shells are 6s, 4f, 5d, 6p. The total no. of orbitals in these sub shells are 16 ( 1 for s, 7 for f, 5 for d and 3 for p). Thus the total no. of elements in the sixth period should be 2×16 i.e as each orbital can have 2 electrons. Thus the 6th period should have 32 elements.

Metal oxides are basic in nature because they reacty with dil. acids to form salt and water. they also dissolve in water to form metal hydroxides which are alkaline in nature. these metal hydroxides release OH- ions, so they are basic.

Molecular mass gives the mass of a single molecule (sum of the atomic masses in the molecule), whereas molar mass gives the average mass of the molecule (mass of Avogadro number of molecules).

– Therefore, the molecular mass of a molecule containing heavier isotopes can be few units higher than the molar mass.

– Otherwise, the value of the molar mass and molecular mass is quiet the same for a similar molecule; only the units are different. The unit of the molecular mass is amu, and the unit of the molar mass is gmol-1.

– It is accurate to use the molecular mass in calculations of higher amounts of molecules than using the molar mass.

– Molar mass is a measurement, which can be given to atoms, molecules or compounds. But molecular mass is only determined in the molecules. If it is the mass of an atom, a different terminology called atomic mass is used.

During the discovery of more and more elements it was very difficult to study the elements and to learn about the properties of elements so some scientists like Mandleev arrange the elements so there is a need of classification

Blue vitriol, as we know it, is hydrated Copper(II) Sulphate, meaning CuSO4.5H2O.

That 5H2O is the water of crystallization or the water of hydration. Those 5 molecules of water simply constitute the crystal i.e, they are merely embedded in between CuSO4 atoms.

When blue vitriol is heated, those water of crystallization escape out of the crystal and what's left is anhydrous copper sulphate or simply CuSO4, without any water of crystallization.

By heating blue vitriol the H2O molecules get remove from cuso4 due to this the blue colour fade and change into white

An inductive effect is an electronic effect due to the polarisation of σ bonds within a molecule or ion. This is typically due to an electronegatvity difference between the atoms at either end of the bond.
