Antimarkovnikov's rule: According to this rule the addition of HX is exactly opposite to that of Markovnikov's rule. As per this rule, the halide ion gets added to the less substituted doubly bonded carbon atom.

Since electronic configuration of Be is : 1s^2 2s^2 . If it looses elctrons it will only form Be2+ ion and to form Be 3+ a large amount of ionization enthalpy will be needed.

The rule is based on the total number of nodes in the atomic orbital, n + ℓ, which is related to the energy. In the case of equal n + ℓ values, the orbital with a lower n value is filled first.

The Zeeman effect is the splitting of the spectral lines of an atom in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The effect is due to the distortion of the electron orbitals because of the magnetic field. The (normal) Zeeman effect can be understood classically, as Lorentz predicted.

Akanksha Kumari? 6 years, 11 months ago

The splitting of a spectrum line into several component by application of magnetic field is called zeeman effect

Sucrose is a sugar and if you look at its structure there are a lot of OH groups these groups hydrogen bond to water and help to form a solvation sphere around the molecule. Ethanol has only one OH group it is less polar than water. There is a general adage that like dissolves in like, sucrose is polar, water is polar and so they dissolve, ethanol is less polar and so less like and therefore does not dissolve.

“The formal charge over an atom of a polyatomic molecule or ion is the difference between the valence electron of that atom in the elemental state and the number of electrons assigned to that atom in Lewis structure.”

Mathematically, it can be expressed by following formula:

F.C. = [Total no. of valence e in free state] – [total no. of e assigned in Lewis structure]
F.C. = [Total no. of valence e in free state] – [total no. of non-bonding pair e (lone pair)] – 1/2 [total no. of bonding e]
The factor of ½ is attached to the no. of bonding e because bonding e is shared between two atoms.

salt bridge is the bridge contained in electrolytic cell and it is of u shaped.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 11 months ago

 A salt bridge is a U- shape containing concentrated solution of an inert electrolyte like KCl, KNO3, K2SO4 etc.or a solidified solution of those electrolytes in agar-agar solution and gelatin.
These inert electrolytes do not take part in redox reaction of the cell and even dont react with the electrolyte used.
The main functions of a salt bridge are;

  1. They allow the movement of ions from one solution to another without mixing of the two solutions and complete the electrical circuit.
  2. To maintain the electical neutrality of the solutions in the two half cells.

Boric acid on heating above 170C gives metaboric acid, which on further heating above 300C gives tetraboric acid (or boric acid). Boric acid may sometimes refer to any of these acids. On further heating gives boron trioxide.
