Grignard reagent is prepared by reacting alkyl(or)aryl(or)vinyl halide with magnesium in the presence of dry ether.
CH3CH2Br + Mg
→ CH3CH2MgBr

In the preparation of grignard reagent perfectly dry ether is required because Mg is a highly reactive metal it can easily reacts with water i.e side reactions will takes place.
Hence yield of the product will be reduced.

Anil and Subha are science students. They want to prepare 51 g of by combining dinitrogen and dihydrogen. They have 153 g of hydrogen. According to Anil's view for this, they have to mix 25.5 kg of nitrogen to the hydrogen while Subha suggestion was that they have to mix 42 g of nitrogen to the hydrogen.
