Polymerisation occurs when a number of molecules join together to form a product.
Similarly, dimerisation occurs when two molecules join together.
It is any chemical reaction in which two monomers react to form a dimer. For ex: Borane (BH3) occurs as the dimer diborane (B2H6).

Massive amounts of gaseous exchange takes place in the leaves through tiny pores called stomata for the purpose of photosynthesis. The opening and closing of stomatal pores is controlled by the guard cells, when water flows into the guard cells, they swell, become curved and cause the pore to open whereas when the guard cells lose water, they shrink, become straight and close the stomatal pore.

Apart from carbon dioxide and water, nitrogen, phosphorus, iron and magnesium are needed by the plants. Water used in photosynthesis is taken up from the soil by the roots in terrestrial plants. Other materials like nitrogen, phosphorus, iron and magnesium are taken up from the soil. Nitrogen is an essential element used in the synthesis of proteins and other compounds which is taken up in the form of inorganic nitrates or nitrites or is taken up as organic compounds prepared by bacteria from atmospheric nitrogen.

Angiosperms are seed-bearing vascular plants. Their reproductive structures are flowers in which the ovules are enclosed in an ovary. Angiosperms are found in almost every habitat from forests and grasslands to sea margins and deserts. Angiosperms are a major division of plant life, which make up the majority of all plants on Earth. Angiosperm plants produce seeds encased in “fruits,” which include the fruits that you eat, but which also includes plants you might not think of as fruits, such as maple seeds, acorns, beans, wheat, rice, and corn.

The Water-Soluble Vitamins: C and B Complex. Vitamins are often categorized based on their solubility. Most of them dissolve in water and are called water-soluble vitamins.  Any excess of water-soluble vitamins, like the Vitamin B complex or Vitamin C, are excreted through the urination process. Many B vitamins and Vitamin C can be found in vegetables (like leafy greens and other green vegetables) and fruits (like citrus fruits).

Water-soluble vitamins are:

  • Thiamin (Vitamin B1)
  • Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)
  • Niacin (Vitamin B3)
  • Pantothenic Acid.
  • Vitamin B6.
  • Folic Acid.
  • Vitamin B12.

Regulation of kidney function involves feedback circuits.

There are 3 main feedback systems that regulate the kidney functions.

1. Control by JGA:

JGA operates multihormonal Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system  (RAAS).  The JGA responds to a decrease in blood pressure or blood volume in the afferent arteriole of the glomerulus and releases an enzyme, renin, into the bloodstream. In the blood, renin initiates chemical reactions that convert a plasma protein called angiotensinogen to a peptide called angiotensin I. This is converted to angiotensin II in lungs by angiotensin converting enzyme. Angiotensin II acts on adrenal gland and results in the release of aldosterone from the adrenal gland. Aldosterone increases blood pressure and increases blood flow to the glomerulus. It acts on DCT and collecting duct and increases reabsorption of Na+.

2. Control by ADH:

ADH is released from pituitary gland when osmolarity of blood is increased. It acts on DCT and collecting duct and helps in reabsorption of water.

3. Control by ANF

Atrial Natriuretic Peptides (ANF)  opposes the regulation by RAAS.  ANF inhibits the release of renin from the JGA and thereby inhibits NaCl reabsorption by collecting duct and reduces aldosterone release from the adrenal gland.

In any branch of science nothing is written in concrete. Theories keep on changing as more relevant and correct theories are being discovered. In case of living beings certain species become extinct and some new species is being formed in every era. This process of addition and deletion of species necessitates the continuous change of the classification system.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 5 months ago

The scientific naming of an organism is called as nomenclature. There are different types of naming systems. Most popularly used naming system is Binomial nomenclature.

Binomial nomenclature, introduced by Carolus Linnaeus is the method of naming an organism with the genus name first and species name later.

Conventions followed while writing scientific names
*Name of the genus begins with a capital letter.
*Name of the species should begin with a small letter.
*Scientific name should be in Italics when printed.
*Genus name and the species name should be underlined separately while handwritten.
