Algae do not keep the embryo inside of themselves but release it into water. This was the first feature to evolve that separated plants from green algae. This is also the only adaptation shared by all plants. Over time, plants had to evolve from living in water to living on land. The evidence suggests that land plants evolved from a line of filamentous green algae that invaded land about 410 million years ago during the Silurian period of the Paleozoic era. All green algae (Chlorophyta) and plants share a common evolutionary ancestor. They both contain the photosynthetic pigments chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b. The two lineages diverged between 630 million and 510 million years ago.

Antibiotics
These are the substances (produced wholly or partially by chemical synthesis) which in low concentrations inhibit the growth of microorganisms or destroy them by intervening in their metabolic processes.
Antibiotics are products of microbial growth and thus, antibiotic therapy has been likened to ‘setting on.e thief against another’.
Antibiotics are of two types :
- Bactericidal antibiotics have cidal (killing) effect on microbes. For example, penicillin, ofloxacin, amino glycosides, etc.
- Bacteriostatic antibiotics have a static (inhibitory) effect on microbes. For example, erythromycin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, etc

All epithelia are separated from their underlying tissues by an extracellular basement membrane which is fibrous in nature. The basement membrane is the fusion of two lamina namely, the basal lamina and the reticular lamina. The lamina reticularis is attached to the basal lamina with collagen anchoring fibrils and fibrillin microfibrils. The two layers together are collectively referred to as the basement membrane.

Massive amounts of gaseous exchange takes place in the leaves through tiny pores called stomata for the purpose of photosynthesis. The opening and closing of stomatal pores is controlled by the guard cells, when water flows into the guard cells, they swell, become curved and cause the pore to open whereas when the guard cells lose water, they shrink, become straight and close the stomatal pore.

1. Organise and classify - the organism can be easily categorised, this really helps making it easier to understand the characteristics of a specific organism in an organised chart.
2. Clarity and precision - these names are unique with each creature have only one scientific name. Helps avoid confusion created by common names.
3. Universal recognition - scientific names are standardised and accepted universally.
4. Stability - the names are retained even if the species are shifted to another genera based on new knowledge.
5. Inter specific relationship - binomial terms help understand the similarities and differences between different species belonging to the same genera, useful in establishing a relationship between the two.
