Somatic cell division occurs by mitosis. Mitosis is the process by which the cell divides into two daughter cells. There are 5 stages in mitosis and are as follows.

  1. Interphase- Chromosome content doubles
  2. Prophase- Chromosome shorten and thicken, nucleoli disappears.
  3. Metaphase- Paired homologous chromosome line up at the center attached to the spindle fibres.
  4. Anaphase- The chromosomes separate.
  5. Telophase- The two cells start to seperate, Nuclear envelope re-forms, the nucleoli reappears and the chromosome uncoils itself.

Aristotle give artificial system of classification. It is also called two kingdom classification. 1) plant kingdom. 2) animal kingdom. Aristotle used simple morphological characters to classify plants and animals. He also divided animals into two groups, Those have red blood and those didn't have red blood. Classification of organisms into plant and animals was easily done and was easy to understand. DEMERITS 1). Large no of irganism did not fall either catagory . ex---- algae fall in animal kingdom but it is a plant. 2). Organisms not seen same internally. 3). Their cellular structures are not same. 4). Mode of nutrition is diffrent. 5). Mode of reproduction is also diffrent.
