(i) Civil Rights Movement in the USA (1954-1968) refers to a set of events and reform movements aimed at abolishing legal racial discrimination against African-Americans.
(ii) Led by Martin Luther King Jr., this movement practised non-violent methods of civil disobedience against racially discriminatory laws and practices.
(iii) The movement inspired many nationalist to raise the issue of racial discrimination at international level. Inspired by the movement, Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised the issue of racial discrimination in the Mexican Olympics.

He was inspired by the militant demonstration of the European Communist Parties.
In 1940, Japanese occupied Vietnam. So now they had to fight against the Japanese as well as French.
A league called ‘Viet Minh’ was formed to fight the Japanese and they got back Hanoi in 1945.
The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed and Ho Chi Minh became its Chairman.

Mahatma Gandhi discovered salt was a common ingredient in the food of both rich and poor. He viewed the tax on salt and the monopoly of the Government on its production as downright oppressive.
On 31st January 1930, he sent a letter to Lord Irwin stating eleven wide ranging demands of various classes of India. The launch of Civil Disobedience was also stated.
On refusal to negotiate by the British, Mahatma Gandhi launched a salt March from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal town of Dandi in Gujarat.
On 6th April Mahatma Gandhi broke the salt law manufactured salt by boiling sea water. This marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement.

The first World War was the first modem industrial war. In this war, machine guns, tanks, aircrafts, chemical weapons were used on a massive scale. Millions of soldiers were recruited from around the world and were brought to the front in ships and trains. About 9 million civilians died and 20 millions were injured. Most of the killed and injured were men of working age, reducing the able-bodied workforce in Europe. During the war, industries were reconstructed to produce war related goods. Britain borrowed large sums of money from US banks. Thus, the war transformed the US from being an international debtor to an international creditor.

The objective of implementing the NREGA 2005 are:
1. To increase the income and employment of people.
2. Every state/region can develop tourism, regional craft, IT etc. for additional employment.
3. The central government made a law implementing the right to work in 200 districts.

1)This Act was passed in September 2005. 2)This act is now renamed as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MNERGA). 3)This act provides 100 days assured employment every year to every rural household ensure livelihood security in rural areas. 4) It also aimed at sustainable development to address the cause of draught, deforestation and soil erosion. 5)One - third of the proposed jobs would be reserved for women. 6)The scheme provided employment to 220crores person days of employment to 4.78 crore households.
