  1. The East India Company appointed gomasthas to supervise weavers in India to establish a more direct control over the weavers, free of the existing traders and brokers in the cloth trade.
  2. The Gomasthas were the paid servants who supervised the weavers,collected supplies and examined the quality of cloth.
  3. The gomasthas ensured that all management and control of the cloth industry came under the British.
  4. This helped in eliminating competition, controlling costs and ensuring regular supplies of cotton and silk.

The main motive of the French was to exploit the natural resources and other essential goods from Vietnam.
The following points state that, the French succeeded in their mission
(i) For development of their own business profit, the French began to develop the infrastructural projects in Vietnam.
(ii) The French began by building canals and
draining lands in the Mekong delta of Vietnam to increase cultivation.
(iii) The vast system of irrigation works canals and earthworks built mainly with forced labour of the natives, increased rice production.
(iv) The area under rice cultivation went up from 2,74,000 hectares in 1873 to 1.1 million hectares in 1900 and 2.2 million in 1930.
(v) It exported two-third of its rice production and by 1931, Vietnam became the third largest exporter of rice in the world.

a.  Gandhi's call for  Swaraj became to be interpreted in different senses by different groups.
b. For tribals who were disgruntled by forest laws,  it meant differently, for them Swaraj could be attained violently by resorting to force.
 c.For plantation workers in Assam , freedom meant the right to move freely in and out of the confined space in which they were enclosed, and it meant retaining a link with the village from which they had come and also increase in their wages.

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT :- 1) It deal eith breaking the laws formed by british govt. 2) It's main aim bei g was to violation of laws by breaking salt law and forest law. 3) This was launched basically to attain purna sawaraj and because the 11 demands of congress were denied. NON - COOPERATION MOVEMENT :- 1) It is for not follow the rules of govt. and it deal with violation of laws. 2) It was carried out through peaceful demonstrations and picketing the foregion shops. 3) It is launched in order to unify hindus and muslims and to attain swaraj.
