(i) Supply of raw materials : Colonies were considered essential to supply of natural resources and other essential goods.

(i) Printed religious literature stimulated a variety of interpretations of faith, even among the little educated working class in the early 16th century.
(ii) Menocchio, an italian miller, reinterpreted the bible in a away that enraged the roman catholic church.
(iii) Such instances worried the church about people reading the various interpretations of the religion and questioning the church.
(iv) Hence, it imposed severe controls over publishers and booksellers and began maintaining an index of prohibited books.

Impact of caste system on Indian democracy:
(i) Expression of caste differences in politics gives many disadvantaged communities the space to demand this share of power. In this sense caste, politics has helped people from Dalits and OBC caste to gain better access to decision-making.
(ii) Several political and non-political organizations have been demanding and agitating for an end to discrimination against particular castes, for more dignity and more access to land, resources and opportunities.
(iii) Exclusive attention can produce negative results as well. It can divert attention from other pressing issues such as poverty, development and corruption. In some cases, it leads to violence.

The features ofCOPRAare-
1. It was a major step enacted by the government in 1986. It stands for-COnsumersPRotectionAct.
2. Under the COPRA, athree tier quasi-judicial machinerywas set up atdistrict level, state level and national levelfor the redressal of consumer disputes.
3. The district level court looks into cases involving claims upto Rs.20 lakhs, the state level courts looks into cases involving claims between Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 1 crore and the national level courts look into cases involving claims more than Rs 1 crore.

(i) Some states like Jammu and Kashmir has its own Constitution.
(ii) Many provisions of the Indian Constitution are not applicable to this State without the approval of the State Assembly.
(iii) Indians who are not permanent residents of this State cannot buy land or house here. Similar special provisions exist for some other States of India as well.
