1.The Gutenberg press was the first printing press in the world. It was set up by Gutenberg in Germany in 1448. Before the invention of this press books were written by hand and they were very costly. So the poor people could not afford to buy them. The Gutenberg press ensured that books reach the common people.
2. The Gutenberg press had a long handle attached to the screw. This handle was used to turn the screw and press down the platen over the printing block that was placed on top of a sheet of damp paper. Gutenberg developed metal types for each of the 26 characters of the Roman alphabet and devised a way of moving them around to compose different words of the text.
3.It came to be known as the movable type printing machine. This machine remained the basic print Technology over the next three centuries. Books could now be produced much faster than what was possible before. The Gutenberg press could print 250 sheets on one side per hour.
4. The first book Gutenberg printed was the Bible. About 180 copies were printed and it took 3 years to print them.

- The political representation of women had been very poor in the Indian legislatures. Even in the cabinet, the number of women ministers is very low.
- One-third of seats in local government bodies have been reserved for women candidates. This has helped in increasing women’s representation in panchayats and municipalities.
- A bill for providing one-third reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies has been pending in the Parliament for more than a decade. Political parties are yet to arrive at consensus on this issue.

Different people have different goals. Each one of them seeks different things. They seek things that are most important for them, i.e. that which can fulfil their aspirations or desires. For instance, a landless rural labourers may desire more days of work and better wages, whereas a prosperous farmer may desire assured high family income through higher support price for their crops and through hard worsting and cheap labourers, children to be settled abroad. In fact, at times, two persons or groups may seek things which are conflicting.
For example, a girl expects as much freedom and opportunity as her brother, and that he also shares in the household work. Her brother may not like this. Similarly to get more electricity, industrialists may want more dams. But this may submerge the land and disrupt the liyes of people who are displaced. They may resent this and may prefer small check dams or tanks to irrigate their fields.

Explanation:
Soil conservation is the prevention of soil loss from erosion or prevention of reduced fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination. Slash-and-burn and other unsustainable methods of subsistence farming are practiced in some lesser developed areas

Rural development focuses on increasing productivity in rural areas. To realise higher productivity, capital needs to be infused in the rural economy from time to time. Credit plays an important role in rural development as discussed below
(i) Credit is needed by fanners to meet the initial Investment on seeds, fertilisers, implements, etc till the crop is ready.
(ii) Credit in also required for other family expenses of marriage, death, religious ceremonies etc so that the farmers arc saved from moneylenders rind traders who exploit them by charging high interest rates and by manipulating the accounts to keep them in a debt-trap.
(iii) Credit facilities are needed by farmers to upgrade the technologies and mechanised farming so that the marketable surplus can be increased.
(iv) In case of monsoon failure, crop yield is low and farmers need to be shielded against this loss by providing credit and insurance, Keeping the above points in view, major nationalisation of banks was done in 1969, as India adopted social banking and multiagency approach to adequately meet the needs of rural credit. Later, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was set up in 1982, as an apex body to co-ordinate the activities of all institutions involved in the rural financing system.
