The African-American Civil Rights Movement (1954-1968) refers to the social movements in the United States aimed at outlawing racial discrimination against Black Americans and restoring voting rights to them.
The emergence of the Black Power Movement, (BPM) which lasted roughly from 1966 to 1975, enlarged the aims of the Civil Rights Movement (CRM) to include racial dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency and freedom from oppression by White Americans.
The movement was characterised by major campaigns of civil resistance. Between 1955 and 1968, acts of non-violent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations between activists and government authorities.
Federal, state and local governments, businesses and communities often had to respond immediately to these situations that highlighted the inequities faced by African-Americans. Martin Luther King Junior was the most prominent leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He thought that Black Americans, as well as other disadvantaged Americans should be compensated for historical wrortgs.

This feeling of nationalism became intense in the Balkan region after 1871. The Balkan region formerly comprised the present-day territories of Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro. The people in these countries were called Slavs. The disintegration of the Ottoman Empire in the region made the situation very explosive in the region as every state was jealous of one another and hoped to gain independence at the cost of the other. One by one, its European subject nationalities broke away from the control of the Ottoman Empire and declared independence. As the different Slavic nationalities struggled to define their identity and independence, the Balkan area became an area of intense conflict.
During this time, many powerful European nations such as England, France, Russia and Germany competed to gain control in the Balkan region.
This competition for gaining prominence in the region finally led to the First World War in 1914.

The RBI supervises the functioning of banks in this manner -
1) It sees whether the banks are maintaining a minimum cash balance of the deposits.
2) It makes sure that people from all backgrounds receive loans and not only the rich, powerful businessman and traders.
3) The above point is made sure by periodical statements given by the banks to the RBI that contains information about to whom the bank has given loan, at which interest the loan was given, etc.
This is necessary so as to maintain equality of who receives the loans. Our aim is that all industries should grow. Even the small scale industries should be given the advantages of loans . As a result, the country's economy will also grow.

Communal politics means if the interests of a religion supersede other interests in the society.
Here, one religious group is against the other religious group and the demands of one religious group are against the demands of the other religious group.
Communal politics is based on the idea that religion is the only basis of forming a community.
It believes that followers of one religion belong to the same community. Their interests, ideas and opinions are the same.
It also follows that people belonging to different religions can not be a part of the same community. Their ideas and demands are bound to be different.
In an extreme case of communalism, it follows that people from different religions are not equal citizens and cannot live together within one nation, which leads to partition of that country.

a. Diverse ethnic composition - Belgium is a linguistically diverse country comprising of Dutch speaking, French speaking and the German speaking people in different regions of Belgium. One may give example of 59% of population residing in the Flemish region and speaks Dutch language.
b. Economic disparities - Tensions primarily erupted between these linguistically diverse groups due to the economic gap that existed between the French and dutch speaking communities. The French who were minority in the country were relatively richer, influential and powerful and accrued the benefits of economic development. The Dutch speaking who were majority in the country got benefits of economic development much later, widening the gap between the two communities.
The conflict was more acute in the capital city of Brussels because :
a. Dutch speaking constituted the minority in Brussels and were majority in the country.
b. The French speaking constituted the majority in Brussels though they were in minority in the country.
c. The economic gap between the two communities escalated the tensions.

2. A smaller number of girls go to higher secondary.
3. Women are paid small at work compared to men. There are lesser jobs that pay highly to the women.

5. Women who work equally at jobs as men are paid less.
The government has also taken steps to bring down this disparity:
1. The equal remuneration act, it states that the men and women should be equally paid to equal work.

The Panchayati Raj system is the grassroots level local self government in our country which aims at the decentralization of power. It has encouraged the active participation of common people in the decision making process which concerns their own lives and development as well. The Panchayati Raj system has also helped in raising the voices of the women folk in the villages who are now actively taking part in the political system of our country. Thus, it enables the citizens of our country to become a part of the mainstream politics. Therefore, it can be said that the Panchayati Raj system has strengthened democracy in India.

Ernst Renan was a French philosopher, who outlined the attributes of a nation which are as follows
(i) A nation is not formed by a common language, race, religion or territory.
(ii) To form a nation, social capital, common glories and deeds of the past and common will are necessary. A nation is the culmination of a long past of endeavours, sacrifice and devotion.
(iii) Nation is a large-scale solidarity, its existence is a daily plebiscite and its inhabitants have the right to be consulted.
(iv) The existence of a nation is not only a good thing, but also a necessity.
(v) A nation has never any real interest in annexing or holding on to a country against its will.
Nations are important because existence of the nation is a guarantee of liberty. Liberty would be lost if the world had only one law and only one master.
