Background of Poona Pact of 1932 was: (i) The Congress had ignored the demand of separate electorate for Dalits.  (ii) Congress was feared of offending the dominated class, the conservative huge caste Hindu in her fold.  (iii) Many dalit leaders were keen on a different political solution to the problem of their community. (iv) They believed political empowerment would resolve the problem of their social disability.  (v) Ambedkar organised the Dalits into the ‘Depressed Class Association’ in 1930 and demanded separate electorate at the Second Round Table Conference. (vi) The issue between Gandhiji and Ambedkar over the separate electorate at the Second Round Table conference.  (vii) The issue between Gandhiji and Ambedkar over the separate electorate for Dalits was resolved under the Poona Pact in Sep. 1932.  (viii) Mahatma Gandhi gave the name of ‘Harijans’ to Dalits and advocated for the better place in the society.Read more on Sarthaks.com - https://www.sarthaks.com/36531/examine-the-background-of-poona-pact-of-1932
