Joule’s law of heating states that when a current ‘i ' passes through a conductor of resistance ‘r’ for time ‘t’ then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time.
H = i 2 rt
The reason behind the heat produced is the collision of the free electrons with the lattice ions or atoms while accelerating in presence of the external electric field.
we know that
volt= work done/ total charge or v = w/q
from this we get w= vq
we know that current i = q / t
so q = it
putting this in prev equation
we get w = vit
from ohms law v = ir
putting it in prev eq we get
w = irit = i2rt joule as work is stored as heat soH = I2RT Joules

Transport of soluble product of photosynthesis or food from leaves to other parts of plants is called translocation.
For translocation, food molecules enter the part of the phloem called the sieve tubes where they can be transported upwards or downwards to all parts of the plant including roots.
Translocation is achieved by utilizing energy from the ATP that provides osmotic pressure required for upward and downward movement of food.

Copper is used to make hot water tanks and not steel this is because the iron (in steel) is more reactive than then copper also it react with hot steam to produce ferrosoferric oxide. Due to which the body of tank will become weaker and weaker. While copper does not react with hot water.

A ray of light changes its direction when it enters from one medium to another medium. This happens because speed of light is different in different media. For example; the speed of light is 3 x 108 m/s (2.99x108 m/s) in vacuum and it is 2.98 x 108 m/s in air.
Refractive Index is the extent of change of direction of light in a given pair of media. The refractive index is a relative value of speed of light in the given pair of media. Thus, to calculate the refractive Index the speed of light in two media is taken.

Baking soda does not contain water of crystallization. The chemical formula of baking soda is NaHCO3. Its formula does not show any association with water molecules.
Other three contain water of crystallization blue vitriol (CuSO4 .5H2O), washing soda (Na2CO3 .10H2O) and gypsum (CaSO4 .2H2O).

Amoeba is a unicellular organism, and just like bacteria, it reproduces through binary fission. After replicating its genetic material through mitotic division, the cell divides into two equal-sized daughter cells. In this method, two similar individuals are produced from a single parent cell. An amoeba that is about to undergo division grows larger, and eventually, its nucleus extends and divides into two. The division of cytoplasm follows the division of the nucleus. So, two amoebae are produced from a single parent, and the parent’s identity is technically “lost.”

Placenta is a special tissue connection between embryo and uterine wall. It acts as an endocrine gland.
Role of placenta:
- It possesses villi that increase the surface area for absorption of nutrients.
- Facilitates passage of nutrition and oxygen to embryo from mother through blood.
- Waste substances produced by embryo are removed through placenta into mother’s blood.

Calorific value: The heating value or calorific value of a substance, usually a fuel or food, is the amount of heat released during the combustion of a specified amount of it. The calorific value is a characteristic for each substance. It is measured in units of energy per unit of the substance, usually mass, such as: kcal/kg, kJ/kg, J/mol, Btu/m³.
Ignition temperature
- The lowest temperature at which a substance catches fire and undergoes combustion liberating heat and light is called ignition temperature.
- In other words it is the minimum temperature at which a combustible substance such as air or gas, must be heated up prior to burning in the absence of any source of the heat. This temperature plays a key role in determining the safety criterions for low volatile products such as diesel oil, lubricating oil, and fuel oil.
- We have already observed that matchstick gets ignited as soon as we strike it against the matchbox whereas it takes a lot of time to ignite a mosquito repellent.

The resonant frequency is the frequency of a resonant circuit. A Resonant circuit is also identified as LC circuit or tank circuit. This circuit comprises of inductor and capacitor attached parallel to each other. The resonant circuit is used to create a particular frequency or to select a particular frequency from a complex circuit.

Differentiating Property
Resistance
Resistivity
1
Definition
Resistance is the physical property of a substance because of which it opposes the flow of current i.e. electrons.
Resistivity is the physical property of a particular substance which is having particular dimensions.
2
Proportionality
Resistance is directly proportional to the length and temperature while it is inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the material.
Resistivity is only proportional to the nature and temperature of the particular material.
3
Symbol
R
ρ
4
Formula
R = V/I or,
R = ρ(L/A)
V = Voltage, I = Current, ρ = Resistivity
ρ = (R×A)/L
R = Resistance, L= Length, A = Cross-sectional area
5
SI Units
The SI unit of resistance is Ohms
The SI unit of resistivity is Ohms-meter.
6
Applications
The property of resistance is used in several places like heaters, fuses, sensors, etc.
Electrical resistivity measurement is used as a quality control test for calcareous soil.
