It is said that genes control the characteristic or trait but the question arises how ? The genes control the characteristic by making a specific protein. Genes are the segment of DNA that contains information to form RNA which ultimately forms protein. Each gene contains two alleles and this instructs the cell to make protein for expression of traits.
If the plant has gene for green seeds then it will make protein which will give green colour to seeds.

Any compound contains chemical energy that can be released when its chemical bonds are broken. Any substance that can be used as a fuel contains chemical energy. Examples of matter containing chemical energy include:
- Coal: Combustion reaction converts chemical energy into light and heat.
- Wood: Combustion reaction converts chemical energy into light and heat.
- Petroleum: Can be burned to release light and heat or changed into another form of chemical energy, such as gasoline.
- Chemical batteries: Store chemical energy to be changed into electricity.
- Biomass: Combustion reaction converts chemical energy into light and heat.
- Natural gas: Combustion reaction converts chemical energy into light and heat.
- Food: Digested to convert chemical energy into other forms of energy used by cells.
- Cold packs: Chemical energy is absorbed in a reaction.
- Propane: Burned to produce heat and light.
- Hot packs: Chemical reaction produces heat or thermal energy.
- Photosynthesis: Changes solar energy into chemical energy.
- Cellular respiration: A set of reactions that changes the chemical energy in glucose into chemical energy in ATP, a form our bodies can use.

In transverse waves, the particles transfer energy from one point to another point by vibrating perpendicularly in the direction of the propagation of the wave. What it means is that in transverse waves movement of particles are at right angles to the movement of energy.
In a transverse wave, the particles are displaced perpendicular to the direction that the wave travels. Examples of transverse waves include vibrations on a string and ripples on the surface of the water. We can make a horizontal transverse wave by moving the slinky vertically up and down. Radio wave, water waves are a few examples of transverse waves.

Homologous organs: These are organs having a similar structural plan, but different functions. For example, the wing of a bat, the flipper of a seal, the front leg of a horse and the arm of a man perform different functions, but have the same structural plan.

Height (h) = 4cm
Since it is a concave mirror therefore f = -20cm
Object distance (u) = -30cm
v = ?
h' = ?
By mirror formula...
1/v + 1/u = 1/f
By putting the above values, we get
v = -60cm
Also, h'/h = -v/u
So we get h' = -8cm
Therefore, the image is real, inverted and magnified..

Endothermic Reaction Examples
- When ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is dissolved in water, an endothermic reaction takes place. The salt dissociates into ammonium (NH4+) and chloride (Cl–) ions. The chemical equation can be written as follows: NH4Cl (s) + H2O (l) ⟶ NH4Cl (aq) – Heat
- Ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3), an important component in instant cold packs, dissociates into the ammonium cation (NH4+) and the nitrate anion (NO3–) when dissolved in water. These ions go on to form ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) and nitric acid (HNO3) respectively (by reacting with the OH– and H+ ions in water). This reaction is endothermic in nature since it cools the surroundings by absorbing heat from it.
- The formation of nitric oxide from the reaction between nitrogen and oxygen is endothermic since it involves the absorption of approximately 180.5 kilojoules of heat for every mole of N2 and O2.

Dihybrid Cross - A cross which involves plants with two pairs of contrasting characters
- Consider a cross of pea plants with round and yellow seeds and plants with wrinkled and green seeds. In this cross, the two pairs of characters involved are seed shape and seed colour.
- The capital letter R is used to denote round-shaped seeds and capital Y to denote yellow-coloured seeds. The genotype of the parent plant is RRYY. The other parent has wrinkled seeds which are green in colour. The letter small r denotes wrinkled seeds and small y denotes green-coloured seeds. The genotype of the parent is rryy. The two parent plants are then crossed, RRYY × rryy.

Digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase, pepsin, trypsin, etc. helps to break the complex food particles into simple ones so that these simple particles can be easily absorbed by the blood and thus transported to all the cells of the body.
