- In Mendeleev’s periodic table, the noble elements were not included in the table as they were not discovered at that time.
In Modern periodic table, the noble elements were placed in group 18 as a last and separated group.
- In Mendeleev’s periodic table, elements with larger atomic weights were placed before elements with smaller atomic weight without any justified reason.
In modern periodic table, all were arranged systematically with increasing atomic number and weight too.
- In Mendeleev’s periodic table, some different elements were grouped together while some similar elements were placed in different groups. Ex: alkali metals like Li , Na, K were placed with coinage metals Cu, Ag, Au etc.
In Modern periodic table there was no such confusion, the coinage metals have their own position in d-block and alkali metals are placed in s-block elements.
- In Mendeleev’s periodic table, the isotopes were placed in different positions.
In Modern periodic table, the isotopes were assigned same position as they have same atomic number.
- In Mendeleev’s periodic table, elements namely Fe, Co, Ni were placed together in Group VIII.
In Modern periodic table, these elements were placed under d-block elements in different groups.

In this reaction, CuO is changing into Cu. That is, oxygen is being removed from copper oxide. Removal of oxygen from a compound is called reduction, so we can say that copper oxide is being reduced to copper. On the other hand H2 is changing into H2O. That is, oxygen is being added to hydrogen. The addition of oxygen to a substance is called oxidation, so we can say that oxygen is being oxidised to water.
The chemical reaction in which the oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously is called redox reaction.

Use Fleming's left-hand rule. The direction of current is shown by the middle finger, the direction of magnetic field is shown by the index finger and the thumb will show the direction of motion of the particle.
Hence, we can see that the middle finger is directed from North to South, the index finger is directed downwards. Therefore, the thumb will be directed eastwards. So, the electron will move towards East.

When exposed to air many metals will slowly react with oxygen in the atmosphere to form metal oxides and magnesium is one of those metals. Like rusting in case of iron, with magnesium, the oxide layer forms a white coating on the outside of the metal that will slow down or interfere with the burning process. Rubbing with sand paper helps to remove this oxide layer due to which burning speeds up.

Ethane is a saturated hydrocarbon found in gaseous state. Ethane is the second simplest alkane followed by methane. It contains 2 carbon atoms and 6 hydrogen atoms. So the formula for ethane is C2H6. It is prepared by laboratory method using sodium propionate. Ethane is the most important gaseous fuel. Natural gas components of ethane and heavier hydrocarbons are quite easily separated from the gas stream and liquefied under moderate pressure.

Electric potential is the work done per unit charge in bringing the charge from infinity to that point against electrostatic force.
In a conductor, electrons flow only when there is a difference in electric pressure at its ends. This is also called potential difference. In a circuit, this potential difference is created by a battery.
