Quantum theory is realted to physics which states that electromagnetic radiation is composed of discrete particles (quanta), called photons that also exhibit wave-like properties. Quantum theory also states that electrons and other particles have both particle-like and wave-like properties.

Soaps do not act efficiently in hard water due to presenc eof of Ca2+ and Mg^2Negative and it gives insoluble calcium and magnesium salts of fatty acids. These precipitates called scum,stick to the fabric and make thier cleaning difficult.
