Dominant trait: The trait which can express its effect over contrasting trait is called a dominant trait. It is expressed even in the presence of one copy of an allele for a particular character in the gene, i.e., it is expressed in the heterozygous condition.
Example: Yy represents dominant trait for yellow seed colour. Seed is yellow even when single copy is dominant allele Y is present.

A rainbow is the diffraction of sunlight through water droplets in the air. To see a rainbow, you need to be looking at light rain with the sun behind you. The rainbow is curved as it reflects the round shape of the sun. It is a semicircle because only half of your field of vision is the air (the other half is the Earth). If you are in an aeroplane with the sun directly overhead and you look down into a raincloud, you will see the rainbow is a full circle, again reflecting the fact the sun is round.

Basic oxide:
Metals react with oxygen to give basic compounds of oxygen. These compounds are usually ionic in nature. Group 1, 2 and lanthanides form basic compounds of oxygen when they react with dioxygen. During the formation of these compounds, a large amount of energy is released. These compounds readily react with water except a few exceptions.
Examples: M2O3, MO2, ThO2
Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH
Acidic oxide:
Non-metals react with oxygen to form acidic compounds of oxides which are held together by covalent bonds. These compounds can also be called as acid anhydrides. Acid anhydrides usually have a low melting and boiling point except for compounds like B2O3 and SiO2 which have high melting points and form giant molecules.
Examples: NO, CO2
SO3 + H2O → H2SO4
B2O3 + H2O → 2H3BO3

Ammonia is a base but doesn’t contain any hydroxyl group because it forms OH- ions when it is added to water.
In water, ammonia forms ammonium hydroxide. While adding water, ammonia ionises for forming the ions of ammonium and hydroxide ions.
In water, ammonia accepts the protons which are provided by dissociation of water. Water in this case which acts as an ‘acid’ and since ammonia accepts these protons, which it acts as a ‘base’.

The variations ensure that the survival of the species as they allow the members of population to adapt to the changing environment and conditions. The species are more suitable to the changed environment . Thus continuity of the species is maintained.
For example, Bacteria variants which can withstand tolerate heat will survive better in a heat wave than variant which cannot heat wave. It proves that creation of variations in a species promote survival.

Joule’s law of heating states that, when a current ‘i ' passes through a conductor of resistance ‘r’ for time ‘t’ then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time.

The Chipko Andolan was the result of a grassroot level effort to end the alienation of people from forests. The movement originated from a dispute between the local villages and are logging contractor who had been allowed to fell trees in a forest close to the village. On the specific day the forest contractors workers appeared in the forest to cut the trees while the men folk were absent. The woman of the village reached the forest quickly and clasped the tree trunks with their arms , thus preventing the workers from felling the trees. Reproduction is a natural process, which helps in providing stability to the population of species by producing new individuals of the same species from existing organisms. Reproduction also maintains the continuity of species and helps in studying evolution.
Reproduction is necessary to provide stability and balance on the planet. Both birth and death are natural events that balance the universe. If anyone of these phenomenon stops occurring, then there would be a great loss in the balance of the universe and the stability to the population of species.
Reproduction is important in order to keep the balance of the universe. Reproduction helps to create variation among the genome and populations. Similar to reproduction, death is also a natural process. if either one of this phenomenon stops occurring, the balance of the universe will be lost. If people just keep dying and new births occur, the planet will be devoid of living organisms soon.

The colour of ferrous sulphate is green. It changes to brown after heating.
On heating: FeSO4.7H2O→FeSO4(s)+7H2O(g)
The product formed is ferric oxide (Fe2O3). This is a decomposition reaction.
On strong heating: 2FeSO4(s)→Fe2O3(s)+SO2(g)+SO3(g
