It acts like a safety device in domestic electric circuits which protect appliances from short circuits. It is usually made of materials with low melting points like copper or an alloy of tin and lead. So, whenever excess current flows through the circuit, the heat produced in the conductor would become high. This heat makes the fuse wire, connected in series with the circuit, melts off thus, disconnecting the circuit.

The force exerted by a magnet on another magnet or on a magnetic substance like iron, cobalt and nickel is called MAGNETIC FORCE. The rule is Fleming's left hand rule.
