Ans. In Anne's opinion, one should not think about the all the misery that is there in the world but about the beauty that still remains. Her advice was to go outside, to the country, enjoy the sun and all that nature had to offer. The cure for misery lay in going outside and trying to recapture the happiness within oneself, think of all the beauty that resided within and in everything around us. That should be enough to make one happy and stop reeling under the burden of melancholy.

It seems clear that the moral is morality itself - to respect God in all we do. However, the Poem has a lot deeper aspect of Morality, ranging from treatment of Animals and Nature to the darkness of technology (as this poem was written during the Industrial Revolution and is part of the Romanticist backlash against it )

Bholi’s real name was Sulekha but she was called Bholi, the simpleton as she was a backward child. She was the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramlal who had seven children. Bholi remained a backward child due to an injury in her head when she was ten months old. She was fair and pretty at birth but when she was two years old, she had an attack of smallpox which left deep black marks all over her body. She started speaking only when she turned five but she stammered when she spoke and as a result she was always mimicked or made fun of by the other children. Therefore, Bholi talked very little. Unlike Ramlal’s other children, she was not healthy and strong. She was frightened at first when her father wanted to take her to school. But when she was bathed and given new clothes to wear, she began to believe that she was being taken to a place better than her home. Bholi did not know what exactly a school was and what happened there, but when she saw girls like her present there, she was glad. She hoped that one of those girls would become her friend. In the class when her teacher asked her name, she tried to say but the girls started laughing when she stammered.

  • Bholi was a simple, innocent girl. Her real name was Sulekha.
  • She was the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramlal from a remote village of India. (He had 3 sons and 4 daughters including Bholi)
  • When she was ten months, she had fallen off her cot/bed. She fell on head and damaged some part of her brain.
  • Since then, she had problems with her brain, memory and overall behaviour. It was the main reason for her nickname, Bholi.
  • When she was 2 years, Bholi had an attack of small-pox. Except her eyes, the entire body was disfigured by deep, black pockmarks.
  • With this, she lost her speech. Later she regained speech at the age of 5. This time she could not speak – she stammered.

Brutus and the conspirators kill Julius Caesar because they believe he is bent on tyranny and is set to dissolve the senate (and thereby dissolve the republic of Rome). Thus the murder of Caesar is justified by Brutus as a way of defending the integrity of the state.

Komal Prasad 7 years, 11 months ago

Valliammai was a cheerful girl of eight years. Curiosity about the things surrounding her made way towards gaining the worldly knowledge. Though quite young, she understood the importance of being mature. She was fascinated by the view of the town yet she did not get down the bus in her temptation. She even refused an offer of free cold drink from the conductor. Already a bit more mature than her age, she understood the mystery of life and death through her first ride on the bus. She realised that in a short span of time, people/ creatures that looked so lively a moment ago are snatched away by death. She was a mature girl when she began her ride but she actually returned as a mature lady.
