Wise men have rightly said, 'Pride goes before a fall.' Similarly vanity, like pride is bound to meet frustration and dejection. Life is a glorious gift meant to be pursued for higher pursuits such as self-improvement, self-actualization, and serving the suffering humankind. Where is the time for vain pursuits in such a competitive world? But unfortunately a major portion of human beings suffer from the ill of being vain. They waste their time, money, energies and other resources almost all their life later on to realize the futility of it. The best example that shows the misery of vain people is the character of Mrs. Packletide in the story Mrs. Packletide's tiger by saki. We see how her vain ambition of outshining Loona Bimberton ends up in her shame, embarrassment, and financial loss. She is left with nothing but regret and remorse. The author has masterfully brought home the point that vain people like her don't get anything useful in their lives; their vain endeavours bear no sweet fruit. On the contrary they have to bear loss on all fronts. So vanity is to be got rid of our character. In its place some ethics and moral values should be nurtured.

No doubt Hari is a thief as well as good human being. Situations compel a person to become either beast or remain as a human being. Even goodness and nobility of a person changes anyone’s heart and mind.

Dust of snow is a beautiful short poem written by Robert Frost. This poem tells that even a simple movement has a large significance. The poet has mentioned crow and hemlock tree in this poem. Crow signifies his depressive and sorrow full mood and hemlock tree is a poisonous tree. Both these signify that the poet was not in a good mood and so he describes the dark ,depressive and bitter side of nature to present is similar mood.

The poet says that once he was in a sad, depressive mood and was sitting under hemlock tree. A crow, sitting on the same tree shook off the dust of Snow i.e, small particles of snow that remain on the surface after the snow fall ,on the poet. This simple action change the poet's mood. He realised that he had just wasted a part of his day repenting and being lost in sorrow. But the change in his mood made him realise that he should utilise the rest of the day in some useful activity. His sorrow was washed away by the light shower of the snow dust. His spirit was revived and he got ready to utilise the rest of the day.
