Will and shall are modal verbs. They are used with the base form of the main verb (They will go; I shall ask her). Shall is only used for future time reference with I and we, and is more formal than will. In speaking, shall and will are usually contracted to ’ll, especially after subject pronouns (I, we, you, they, she, he, it) Hope it helps u mate..

Peggy and Maddie both were close friends. Both were American and studied in a school. They were intelligent and sat in the front row in the class. Both made fun of Wanda Petronski, who was a polish girl and studied in their class. They made fun of her on her name, dresses and pairs of shoes.Peggy was the most popular girl in school. She was pretty and rich. She was good at drawing and designing. Maddie was a poor girl who usually wore Peggy’s old clothes. She was not in favour of teasing Wanda. She always wanted to stop Peggy, but could not do so out of her own compulsions. Both have different nature.

Anil, being a simple person lets him work and even starts teaching him how to cook. Hari Singh is delighted when Anil starts teaching him to write as he plans to rob on a larger scale. Hari steals a little money daily when he goes to buy the daily groceries and one day when he gets a chance he steals money from Anil and runs away. Robin Klein has expressed the views of a little girl, Amanda who is constantly pointed out by her mother for making mistakes. Mistakes which she considers so as they are not part of the code of good conduct laid out by the society in which we live.

The girl Amanda yearns for freedom and peace in her life. She is constantly reminded of her mistakes. Her parents want her to follow the code of conduct of good behavior. They are doing so because they want their child to be well mannered and obedient. But while doing this they forget that she is a child and should be allowed some freedom. The poet has drawn the reader’s attention towards the condition of children who are constantly oppressed by their elders in the name of good behaviour.

He is fond of books and spends most of his booty on buying books. He plans meticulously before attempting a burglary. During his burglary attempt at a big house, he gathers all the necessary information and enters the house for stealing from the safe. He is cheated by a lady thief, who claims herself to be the owner of the house. Finally, Horace ends up in prison only to repent at the way he was deceived by a person from his own profession.

Anne loved her grandmother, she realized how little she had understood what she suffered, how kind she had always been and what an interest she took in everything that concerned her grandchildren. This is spite of being terminally ill and keeping it a secret. Anne remembered her grandmother as being loyal and good and having never let them down. She always stood up for her granddaughter no matter how badly she misbehaved. She wonders if her grandmother loved her or if she did not understand her either. She conjectures that her grandmother must have felt quite lonely in spite of being surrounded by people who loved her and that was something that happened all the time, to feel lonely even when one is loved by many people. Anne's grandmother would appear to her as a guardian angel, it was such a vivid image that she could even make out her soft skin of crinkly velvet.

The greatest wealth that child wants is his or her freedom and the thing that he or she never like. Is the constant nagging and unwanted instructions and over protection of parents. Amanda is a poem of a young girl who is constantly control to do one thing or other by her parents. Every child wants to enjoy the dream world of his or her childhood. So, he or she does not want to cut this romantic and facinating world. Any kind of instructions cuttle his or her freedom. He or she does not want to be denied chocolates and want to sit and behave exactly what she want. He or she would rather induldge in fantasis clean his or her room or shoes. He or she want to remain a child just a little bit longer.

Shreya .... 6 years, 4 months ago

The poem describes a girl named Amanda and her mother who is nagging her for her mistakes. She is first pointed out most probably by her mother for biting her nails and for not sitting in the right posture. The mother also feels that Amanda sits in a very lazy manner. To this, Amanda imagines herself as a mermaid who lives a calm and relaxing life in the beautiful green sea. Further, she is nagged for not cleaning her room and shoes and also for not doing her homework. She then imagines herself to be an orphan because she is now fed up of being watched by her parents continuously. She says that she would have enjoyed her freedom then, by making the patterns of her bare feet on the sand and would live a peaceful life. Next, Amanda is scolded for eating too many chocolates as this causes pimples. She is also scolded for not listening to her mother. So, now Amanda thinks of being Rapunzel, a character from a fairy tale and wants to live in a huge tower like her. In the tower she will be alone and will live a peaceful life and will never allow anyone to come in. Finally, the mother asks her to stop being moody because she doesn’t want anyone to blame her for harassing her daughter. At this time the poet has not written any reaction from Amanda’s side. This constant nagging has made her so sad that she has even stopped to imagine herself as someone else. She used to do so in order to escape from the continuous harassment and dominance of her parents.

Mr. Herriot was a genius veterinary surgeon and above that, he was a good human being and a very tactful person. He knows how to deal with people. He adjusts himself well to the circumstances.
He had a deep understanding of veterinary medical science and psychology. He was quick to analyze the factors responsible for lack of fitness and ill health of Pumphrey's dog (Tricki). These qualities of him allure me a lot.
