The story ‘The Hack Driver’ is the story of a hack driver called Oliver Lutkins. He lived at New Mullion. He was an important witness in a court case. The law firm wrote many letters to him but he did not appear before the court. At last, the firm sent a young lawyer to New Mullion to issue summons to Lutkins. The junior assistant clerk did not recognise Lutkins. Lutkins met him at the station. He took the assistant clerk all over the town in search of Lutkins although he himself was Lutkins. He could not serve the summons to Lutkins. He had to return back to the city. But the owner of the legal firm sent him back to New Mullion. He could serve the summons to Lutkins this time. We face many situations throughout our lives, to which we can either respond in a positive way or a negative way. However, the poet is full of sorrow in the poem but when the snow fell on him, he started turning positive. The snow was made to fall by a crow on the tree above the poet. So, the lesson for life in this poem is that even in negative situations, we have the choice to react negatively or positively, but reacting positively changes the situations and makes us forget our pains and sadness, and gives a new zeal to do something.

The postmaster was a fat and amiable fellow. He was a sensible and a compassionate human being who was amazed by the depth of faith in God that is shown by Lencho. Although at first he was amused by Lencho's letter to God, he became serious and wanted to help Lencho because he didn't want his faith to be shaken. He has shown an act of charity and such a helpful person is humble while giving part of his salary to another man..

Well... Frost has presented nature in an unconventional manner. He was expressing some sorrow through the bird like a crow and a tree like hemlock.. A crow can be associated with something dark, black or foreboding. And a hemlock tree is a poisonous one. These are the two sources through which Frost wanted to symbolise the feelings of sadness and regret. The dust(particles) of snow that is shaken off the hemlock tree by crow stands for joy that Frost experiences. He has used an unconventional tree and bird in order to contrast them with joy in the form of snow.

The blue dress she wears looks very funny as it never hangs right. It looks as if it has not been ironed well for a long time. ... One was a green dress with red trimmings and the other was a blue dress. The colours were as vivid as the colons of Christmas and Wanda had told the girls they were all silk and velvet. The poet says "I will not intrude on him" because the boy, for the first time in his life, experiences the grief of losing a much loved possession-his ball. He does not want to disturb the boy as he wants him to feel what it is like to lose something. The poet wants him to be able to cope with his loss.
He does not offer him 'money' to buy another ball because he wants the boy to understand that money cannot buy everything. He wants him be responsible enough to let go off things and move on in life. Once something is lost, it may never be restored. This realisation will help him have a mature outlook towards life.

The subordinating conjunction connect two clauses of unequal value ;that is ; they connect dependent clauses with independent with clauses . This poem tells that even a simple movement has a large significance. The poet has mentioned crow and hemlock tree in this poem. Crow signifies his depressive and sorrow full mood and hemlock tree is a poisonous tree. Both these signify that the poet was not in a good mood and so he describes the dark ,depressive and bitter side of nature to present is similar mood.
The poet says that once he was in a sad, depressive mood and was sitting under hemlock tree. A crow, sitting on the same tree shook off the dust of Snow i.e, small particles of snow that remain on the surface after the snow fall ,on the poet. This simple action change the poet's mood. He realised that he had just wasted a part of his day repenting and being lost in sorrow. But the change in his mood made him realise that he should utilise the rest of the day in some useful activity. His sorrow was washed away by the light shower of the snow dust. His spirit was revived and he got ready to utilise the rest of the day.
