FIRE AND ICE by Robert Frost  The poet felt that the world of ours would come to an end, but he was not sure how.  He came to the conclusion on the basis of what people said regarding the ending of the world.  Two highly contrasting but powerful elements of nature-fire and ice would end the world.  In the 1st stanza, the poet agreed with those who believed that the fire would cause the end of the world. Fire stands for strong, unlimited, uncontrolled desires of humans (of greed, power, and money) which would end the world.  The 2nd element ice stands for -hatred, indifference, cold reasoning, intolerance which would end the world.  The poet himself had experienced enough hate born out of desire. If the world survived after being destroyed by unlimited desire, it would be destroyed the 2nd time by hatred, indifference and intolerance.  Theme – the theme of the poem is the old age question, whether the world would end in fire or ice. The opinion is divided; some think natural element of fire would destroy the world. Some think ice would destroy the world.  Rhyme scheme - abaa ,bcbcb  Assonance- long sound of 'O' in 'I hold with those who favour fire'  Alliteration- sound of 'f ' in 'I hold with those who favour fire'  Imagery- 'some say the world will end in fire' 'To say that for destruction ice,is also great '  Symbolism - FIRE symbolises strong, unlimited, uncontrolled human desire of greed, power etc ICE symbolises hatred, indifference, cold reasoning, intolerance.  Anaphora – 'some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice.'  Personification- Fire and Ice have been personified  Enjambment – 'From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favour fire .' 1. What do you think would be enough to destroy the world? Can fire and ice contribute to it, How? 2. What is the underlying idea of the poem -Fire and Ice? 3. -How will the world end twice?

Ankush Rana 4 years, 8 months ago

In the poem fire and ice written by Robert Frost tell us about the idea that how the world will end either by fire for bi ice here fire stand for desire and Ice stands for hated which grows up up in people minds daily so that main reason that we will responsible for the end of the world

In the play, The Proposal, Natalya and Ivan forget the main motive of their meeting which is marriage proposal and get involved in other unimportant arguments related to the ownership of the meadows. It can be clearly observed that anger management is important. We should not lose the focus of the discussion by getting into endless discussions. It should always be preferred to speak less and wisely rather than holding long arguments.  It is not necessary that the mentality of every individual would match. However, one should be a good listener and should never be judgmental. No one's opinion should be mocked at. Every decision or opinion should be revered. Communication skill using right diction, correct gestures and proper behavior patterns is necessary for maintaining a proper decorum in a societal set up.

He was feeling guilty. His conscience disturbed him as he knew that he was going to rob a person who trusted him the most. The person was also very kind enough to take him into employment when he couldn't afford for it. He also taught Hari how to cook and to read and write his own name and promised that he would teach him how to read and write whole sentences and add a few numbers. So, Hari found it difficult to rob Anil.

A letter to God’ is a story of extreme faith in god. The story is all about how a poor farmer wrote to God asking for money and a postmaster helped him instead.
When the farmer found that the money was less than he had asked for, he wrote to God again, asking for more but not to send it via post because they were thieves.
The title is justified because it is all about faith and how God works in strange ways. There is also a slight irony in the fact that a human helped out but the faith was so strong that the farmer continued to believe that it was God.
