Nelson Mandela' was born on July 18th, 1918 in the village of Mvezo in Umtata, then a part of South Africa's Cape Province. His story symbolizes a lifestyle struggle against apartheid in South Africa. It was a terrible form of institutionalized racism that held the South African society in it's grip for a long time. It was not easy for Mandela to fight against it, as he too was among those who were oppressed by the system.

Before becoming actively involved in the anti-apartheid struggle, Mandela survived many years of his life as a subject of colonialism. As a child in Africa, Mandela was a victim of the European colonial project which involved 'civilizing' indigenous communities by silencing African ways of life in favour of a Euro-centric culture.

In the early 1960's, Mandela was imprisoned for his stand against the racist laws of the government. He stayed in prison for nearly three decades but refused to compromise his position, which was to fight for justice and equality for all people.

A courageous and uncompromising hero, Mandela was a man of principles, strength and integrity. In 1994, he led the country to the end of apartheid and was elected the first black president of South Africa. He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. After he retired from public life, Mandela continued to embody the hopes and dreams of a free and equal world. He died on December 5th, 2013 at the age of 95 at Johannesburg, South Africa.

Nelson Mandela received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Soviet Order of Lenin and the Bharat Ratna. Today, Nelson Mandela, popularly known as ‘Madiba' in South Africa, is a household name all over the world.

Subject: The Nuisance of Loudspeakers

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my anguish and annoyance over the problem of loud speakers during the examination days. I am a student studying in +2 standard in a reputed school in the city. The final examinations are just round the corner. I am preparing very hard day and night. During the day the loud noise from speakers does not disturb and distract as much as it does at night. Especially at the weekends the nose from the loudspeakers is just unbearable. During the last weekend I could not study at all. As a result my stress and anxiety just hit the roof. In spite of the law prohibiting loud music playing beyond 11 o’ clock, people just violate the rules and regulations.
There are thousands of students like me who have to suffer on account of this problem. Besides, there are some old patients and new born babies in every locality who get affected by this noise pollution. I on behalf of all the students of the city plead and appeal to concerned authorities to look into the matter and ensure proper peace after 11 p.m. so that we can study. I am hopeful you will give enough space to my views in your newspaper. Thanking you.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,
Parvati

No pain no gain means that if we don’t work hard or struggle for something we cannot achieve our goals. One has to go through some pain to reach the specific target. This life is not a bed of roses, and everyone has to work hard in order to achieve a respected and good position. No pain, no gain is a proverb that tries to show the connection between hard work and success. This is not necessarily for large achievements, although it holds equally true there. Everything that we want in life is connected to the effort that needs to be taken. If one is unwilling to take any effort, there isn’t much to be achieved.Jane Fonda used this proverb in her 1982 aerobics videos as the catchphrase for building endurance. It was also Benjamin Franklin’s most famous and memorable aphorisms. History is full of examples that who bear pain never gain any good stuff. Inventions, discoveries and a new theory need struggle and time. So if you think that you will pass your exam or get promotion in your job without effort and concentration, then it’s all very false positive, and you need to get over these thoughts. We only see those people successful today who thrive and worked hard in their life. Now they live their golden life. Literally, if one wants a healthy body, one must earn it by going through the pain of the exercise. If one wants to eat, there needs to be some work done in the form of cooking. If one wants to live in luxury, one needs to work and earn it. As an extreme example, a mother can have her baby only by going through the extreme labor pains, although medical technology is changing this. If you want to gain something in life, you have to take the pain to make some efforts in that direction. Many languages have similar proverbs that point to some pain being involved in any activity to be gainful. Nothing is achieved by sitting idle and wishful thinking. Success is always achieved when you work towards it and prayers alone cannot help you make it. Moreover, the things which come in your life without any pain or struggle will go back instantly without giving you the proper benefits. So everyone should work hard and never lose hope. Otherwise, you will not survive in this world.

According to me, this is a real-life episode. This story, as narrated by the narrator, shows how these days pets are given importance in our society. The pet in the story, Tricki is described as an intimate partner of the rich mistress. The dog is given several privileges and facilities as we see in today's world. Thus it is a true and real-life episode for the incident.

Lencho is a hard working man. According to the story, he was an ox of man, who had a strong belief on God. He does not believe in humanity because of his firm belief on God. He wants a little rain but the rain soon turned into hailstorm which brought hailstones to his field. Then he demands desired money from God by writing a letter to God. The letter was read by the postmaster and he resisted not to break his firm belief in God. He sends money to him as much as he could. But the man blamed the postmaster and employees itself that have taken rest of the money. This shows that he has no faith in humanity and was so foolish to mankind.

Lencho was a farmer. He was not so poor and not so rich farmer. He was having a great faith in God. This we came to know from his letter addressed to God. He did so for the compensation of his crops. Actually the hail stones destroyed his crops and he thought that now his family would starve throughout the whole year. But he was very religious person, so he decided to ask the God for his help. In his letter to God he asked the God for 100 pesos. But his letter was not reached to God. It were the post office employees who sent the 70 pesos for help. And Lencho called the post office employees as “a bunch of crooks”. While they helped him. Because of this we can say that Lencho was a foolish person too (in the sense of innocence).
