We have not inherited this world from our forefathers but borrowed it from our children. If we want them to get all the resources , we should work towards sustainable development. Sustainable development means that developmemt should take plave without degrading the environment and the development in the present should not comprimise with the need of future generation. But the sad part is today's development is not sustainable. The ground water level is depleting at a faster rate due to excessive irrigation, etc. Though water is renewed by the hydrologic cycle but we are using the resource before it gets renewed. Simlarly, we have fixed reserves for fossil fuels. Once exhausted they will take millions of years to form again. Besides depleting reserves they also cause global warming .

इस एक्ट के तहत ब्रिटिश सरकार को निम्न अधिकार मिल गए थे – सबसे पहले तो उन्हें यह अधिकार मिल गया था कि वे किसी भी ऐसे व्यक्ति को, जोकि आतंकवाद, देशद्रोह और विद्रोह में शामिल होता हुआ दिखेगा, उसे तुरंत गिरफ्तार कर सकते हैं. और वो भी बिना किसी वारंट के केवल शक के आधार पर. इसके अलावा गिरफ्तार किये गये लोगों को बिना किसी भी कार्यवाही के एवं बिना किसी को जमानत दिए 2 साल तक जेल में रखने का अधिकार भी ब्रिटिश सरकार को प्राप्त था. यहाँ तक कि गिरफ्तार किये गए लोगों को यह भी नहीं बताया जाता था कि उन्हें किस धारा के तहत जेल में डाल दिया गया है. और उन्हें अनिश्चितकाल तक नजरबंद भी रखा जाता था. इसके साथ ही भारतीयों को यह अधिकार भी नहीं दिया गया कि वे अपने पक्ष कुछ बोल सकें. ब्रिटिश सरकार को यह भी अधिकार प्राप्त था कि उन्होंने पुलिस को प्रेस को अधिक सख्ती से नियंत्रित करने की शक्ति दे दी थी. जेल में डाले गये दोषियों को अपने अच्छे व्यवहार को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सिक्योरिटीज को जमा करने के बाद ही रिहा किया जाता था. भारतियों को राजनीतिक, धार्मिक या शैक्षिक गतिविधियों में हिस्सा लेने पर भी प्रतिबंध लगा दिए गये थे.
