Southern Oscillation refers to the shifting of the surface air pressure between the tropical eastern Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean. The eastern Pacific Ocean experiences high pressure when the Indian Ocean experiences low pressure. During certain years, the pressure conditions are reversed and the Indian Ocean has a higher pressure in comparison to the Indian Ocean. This phenomenon is known as the Southern Oscillation. The Index of Southern Oscillation is computed from fluctuations in the surface air pressure between Tahiti and Darwin.

- Food Security System in India. Since the advent of the Green Revolution in the 1960s the country has avoided famine, even during adverse weather conditions.
- Punjab and Hryan has shown very impressive growth in food production with 7.23 million tonnes in 1964-65 to a record 218 milion tonnes in 2009-10.
- India has become self–sufficient in food grains during the last 30 years because of the variety of crops grown all over the country. Also, we have developed a food security system.
- Still a few states have lagged behind in food production.e.g. Orissa.

Food security means availability of food to all people all the time. Food security is needed for various purposes. The main purpose of food security is the no person should go to bed with empty stomach. The other reason is that in times of natural calamities, surplus food should be available to ensure adequate food supply to those who are affected by the calamity.

The Constituent Assembly worked in a systematic, open and consensual manner. Firstly some basic principles were decided or agreed upon. Then a Drafting Committee chaired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar prepared a draft constitution for discussion. Several rounds of thorough discussion took place on the Draft Constitution, clause by clause. More than
2000 amendments were considered. The members deliberated for 114 days spread over three years. Every document presented and every word spoken in the Constituent Assembly has been recorded and preserved to form 12 bulky volumes of Constituent Assembly Debates.

The representatives of the third estate assembled on 20 June in the hall of the indoor tennis court in the ground of Versailles. They declared themselves National Assembly. They were led by Mirabeau and Abbe Sieyes.

- Adolf Hitler was born on 20 April 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria-Hungary.
- Hitler was against the Jews and killed many of them.
- Democratic constitution with a federal structure was formed by the National Assembly after the loss of Germany in the World War-I and had a meeting at Weimar.
- Many Germans accused the Weimar Republic for harsh and humiliating Versailles treaty.
- The First World War had a great impact on the European Society and Polity.
- Along with the Weimar Republic there came another revolutionary uprising called Spartacist League which was based on the pattern of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia and demanded Soviet style governance.
- Germany fought the war on loans and had to pay war reparations only in gold which depleted the gold reserves when there was a scarcity for resource.
- As a result of reckless printing of paper currency, the value of the German mark collapsed and prices of goods soared.

When Bolsheviks ordered land re-distribution, the Russian army began to break up. Soldiers, mostly peasants, wished to go home for the redistribution and deserted. Non-Bolshevik socialists, liberals and supporters of autocracy condemned the Bolshevik uprising.
Their leaders moved to South Russia and organised troops to fight the Bolsheviks. These troops and Bolsheviks fought a civil war; and looting, banditry and famine became common.
