Demands :

(i) Lenin returned to Russia from exile and felt that it was time for Soviets to take over power. He declared that war be brought to a close, land be transferred to the peasants and banks nationalised. He also argued to rename Bolshevik Party as Communist Party.
(ii) Started planning on uprising against government with the support of army.

Demerits:  

1)It creates disunity & factionalism


2)Candidates often use dirty tricks to discredit their opponents & win elections


3)Long term policies may become a casualty for electoral politics


4)Money power is often a crucial determinant of results in elections & smaller and independent candidates may not have sufficient resources to compete with big parties on equal terms.


5)Parties can even bribe the people with money or snacks for vote.

 

Merits:

1) It creates competition among parties to serve the people better.


2)People will have lot of options among various leaders.


3) People acn select a particular leader who can solve their problems.


4) Political Competition mostly benefits the people as parties will do their best to lure the people.  


5) Poltical Competition leads to the development of the nation.

1) we would have not needed election only if all the pelple sit together and takes decision on every matter . 2) but we all know it is not possible for a large population to have time and knowledge of all matters 3) hence people rule by their representative 4) and to make sure that these re presentative work as per our wish we do election 5) it helos us to choose our representative and gives people a real choice

Election is a mechanism by which people choose thier representatives at regular intervals and change them if they wish to do so. In an election the voters make many choices. That's why we need election.
