Kilowatt - hour is the commercial unit of electrical energy. We have seen that power is the rate of energy consumed or delivered. ... It is (1000 watt) x (3600 seconds) i.e., 3600000 joules = 3.6x106 J. 3.6 x 106 J is defined as 1 kWh. The electric energy used in houses, factories etc. is measured in kilowatt hour.

Let a body moves from D to with initial speed u and are moving with uniform acceleration finally body reach point B after time taken t.
distance travelled by body = area between curve v-t
= area DBA + area DAEO
= 1/2 × base × height + length × Breadth
= 1/2 × t × (v - u) + ut
we know , ( v - u ) = at, put it above
= 1/2× t × at + ut
= ut + at²/2
hence , distance travelled by body = ut + 1/2at²

Difference between mass and weight-:
• Mass is the total matter contained in a body while weight is the force with which an object is attracted towards the earth.
•SI unit of mass and weight are different.
SI unit of mass - Kg (Kilogrammes)
SI unit of weight - N (Newton)
• Mass is constant, it won't change due to position. While weight isn't constant, it will change due to position. Suppose, the object is
taken at the center of the earth where gravity is 0, we know that,
W=mg
W= m×0
W=0
Weight will change due to change in position.
• Mass can never be zero, while weight can be.
• Mass is a scalar quantity , having only a magnitude and no role of direction.
• Weight is a vector quantity having a magnitude as well as a direction on its own.
• Mass is most probably measured by use of a beam balance while weight is measured by use of a spring balance usually.

| Density | (Specific Gravity) Relative density |
| i. Mass per unit volume of a substance is called density. ii. Density = mass/volume iii. SI unit of density is Kg/m3 CGS unit of density is g/cm3 |
i. The ratio between density of a substance and density of water is called relative density. ii. Relative density = Density of the substance/density of water at 40C iii. Units: Relative density has no units because it is the ratio between the similar physical quantities (density). |

Activity: To demonstrate the process of evaporation.
Aim: To obtain coloured component (dye) from blue/black ink.
Materials:
- Beaker
- Water
- Watch glass
- Blue/black ink
Procedure:
- Fill half a beaker with water.
- Put a watch glass on the mouth of the beaker.
- Put few drops of ink on the watch glass.
- Now start heating the beaker. Continue heating as the evaporation goes on and stop heating when there is further change on the watch glass.
Observations:
We can see that the evaporation is taking place from the watch glass. Dye is left on the watch glass.
Conclusions:
Ink is a mixture of a dye in water. Thus, we can separate the volatile component (solvent) from its non-volatile solute by the method of evaporation.

Binary compounds are chemical compounds comprising of two distinct elements. An element is a substance that cannot be further divided into any simpler substances using chemical methods. Hence sodium fluoride, magnesium oxide, and calcium chloride are all chemical elements. So it implies that binary compounds comprise of exactly two different chemical elements.
Examples of Binary Compounds: There are binary compounds which consist of more than one of each element. For example water, it comprises of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom (H2O). Water and calcium chloride are also examples of binary compounds that one can see in their daily life.

Everything in this universe is made up of material which scientists have named as "matter". There are three states of matter - solid, liquid and gaseous. The states of matter are inter-convertible and can be converted by changing the temperature or pressure.
