Density   (Specific Gravity) Relative density
i. Mass per unit volume of a substance is called density.
ii. Density = mass/volume
iii. SI unit of density is Kg/m3
CGS unit of density is g/cm3
i. The ratio between density of a substance and density of water is called relative density.
ii. Relative density = Density of the substance/density of water at 40C
iii. Units: Relative density has no units because it is the ratio between the similar physical quantities (density).
