- Law of Conservation of Energy:
According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can only be converted from one form to another; it can neither be created or destroyed. The total energy before and after the transformation remains the same.
Let an object of mass, m be made to fall freely from a height, h. At the start, the potential energy is mgh and kinetic energy is zero. The kinetic energy is zero because its velocity is zero. The total energy of the object is thus mgh. As it falls, its potential energy will change into kinetic energy. If v is the velocity of the object at a given instant, the kinetic energy would be ½mv2. As the fall of the object continues, the potential energy would decrease while the kinetic energy would increase. When the object is about to reach the ground, h = 0 and v will be the highest. Therefore, the kinetic energy would be the largest and potential energy the least.
The sum of the potential energy and kinetic energy of the object would be the same at all points. That is,
potential energy + kinetic energy = constant
or
mgh +1/2 mv2 = constant
The sum of kinetic energy and potential energy of an object is its total mechanical energy.

Rabies is a viral disease that is spread through the animal bite such as the dog. It is caused by the infection of rabies virus.The infection caused from this leads to encephalomyelitis i.e the inflammation of the brain as well as the spinal cord. The transmission of the virus happens through the saliva and affects the CNS or Central nervous system. This virus belongs to the family called Rhabdoviridae. It takes the shape of a bullet.

- We observe that when a ray of white light falls on a prism it experiences refraction twice.
- Once when it travels from the rarer medium (air) to a denser medium (glass) and again from the denser medium (glass) to a rarer medium (air).
- Finally, we observe a band of colors, called spectrum, formed out of a ray of white light. If we observe this spectrum more closely, the color having a smaller wavelength deviates the most and vice versa.
- Thus, a spectrum of colors ranging from red to violet is observed where red having the longest wavelength suffers the least deviation.
- This kind of spectrum is called a continuous spectrum as violet merges into blue, blue into green and so on.
However, the emission spectrum of atoms in the gas phase, do not exhibit a continuous spread of wavelength from one color to others. Rather, the emitted light consists of a specific wavelength having dark spaces existing between them. Such kind of spectra is known as atomic spectra or line spectra.
