Biotic factors relate to all the living things in the ecosystem. Their presence and their biological by-products affect the composition of an ecosystem. Biotic resources include all living organisms from animals and humans, to plants, fungi, and bacteria. The examples of biotic resources relate to all the living components of an ecosystem. These include producers, consumers, decomposers and detritivores.
Abiotic factors refer to all the non-living chemical and physical factors present in the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. Sunlight, air, precipitation, minerals, and soil are some examples of abiotic factors.

Sulfate and sulfite ions are the polyatomic ions which are formed by the combination of sulfur and oxygen atoms.
The chemical formula for sulfate and sulfite are{tex} SO_4^{2-}\text{ and }SO_3^{2-}{/tex} respectively.
Sulfide ion is the ion which is formed by the gaining of electrons by sulfur atom. Sulfur atom gains 2 electrons in order to form stable atom. The ion formed by gaining 2 electrons by sulfur atom is{tex} S^{2-}{/tex}
Thus, the chemical formula for sulfate, sulfite and sulfide ions are {tex}SO_4^{2-},SO_3^{2-}\text{ and }S^{2-}{/tex} respectively.
All the ions carry a charge of -2.
