Amoeba is a unicellular organism that has the ability to change its shape. They are usually found in water bodies such as ponds, lakes and slow-moving rivers. Sometimes, these unicellular organisms can also make their way inside the human body and cause various illnesses.

This is one of the example of diffusion in solids. It took lot of time because of strong forces of attraction between the particles of solids. Alloy of metals is an example of the diffusion of a solid in another solid.

When salt is mixed with water, the salt dissolves because the covalent bonds of water are stronger than the ionic bonds in the salt molecules. Water molecules pull the sodium and chloride ions apart, breaking the ionic bond that held them together.

Diffusion is nothing but the movement of molecules from it's higher concentration to lower concentration. The zig-zag movement of small particles suspended in a liquid or a gas is called Brownian motion. Brownian motion tells us that the particles are tiny nature and the particles of a matter are constantly moving.

Estimation is often done by sampling, which is counting a small number of examples something, and projecting that number onto a larger population. An example of estimation would be determining how many candies of a given size are in a glass jar. In real life, estimation is part of our everyday experience. For students, estimating is an important skill. First and foremost, we want students to be able to determine the reasonableness of their answer. Without estimation skills, students aren't able to determine if their answer is within a reasonable range.

The difference between the rough endoplasmic reticulum and the smooth endoplasmic reticulum is that the rough endoplasmic reticulum contains ribosomes. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not contain ribosomes. The ribosomes are what give rough endoplasmic reticulum its characteristic "roughness."

Sugar is a compound. It has the chemical formula: C12H22O11. It is a carbon compound and carbon forms covalent compounds (compounds formed by the sharing of electrons between the elements) . So it is not a mixture as the elements (C,O,H) react chemically and are not physically mixed with each other .

All gases at the same temperature have the same kinetic energy. This means that lighter gases move faster than heavy gases at the same temperature. In formula sense, kinetic energy of a gas is given by: Since they are equal KE, and the heavier gas has more mass, the velocity of the heavier gas must be lower.

- Nucleoid is an undefined nuclear region of the prokaryotic cell, containing the genetic material (nucleic acids).
- Chromosomes are thread-like condensed chromatin fibres which contain heredity information and are visible only during cell division.
- A chromatid is one half of a replicated chromosome. Prior to cell division, chromosomes are copied and identical chromosome copies join together at their centromeres. Each strand of one of these chromosomes is a chromatid.
- Chromatin is a substance within a chromosome consisting of DNA and protein. The DNA carries the cell's genetic instructions. The major proteins in chromatin are histones, which help package the DNA in a compact form that fits in the cell nucleus.

During evaporation process the particles of liquid gain energy from their surroundings in order to overcome the force of attraction between them. This causes loss of heat energy in the surroundings that is why evaporation causes cooling.

A compound microscope uses two lenses to magnify the object/specimen being viewed (near the stage of the microscope). These two lenses include the objective lens and the eyepiece lens (also known as the ocular lens).
Meghna Thapar 4 years, 5 months ago
Ordinary light microscopes are equipped with three objective lenses (5 ×/10 ×, 40 ×, and 90/100 ×), and two ocular (5 ×, 10 ×) lenses. The ocular lens, or eyepiece lens, is the one that you look through at the top of the microscope. The purpose of the ocular lens is to provide a re-magnified image for you to see when light enters through the objective lens. The ocular lens is generally 10- or 15-times magnification.

Sublimation is the property of substance in which they are converted directly from solid to gas or vice versa. Such substances are known as sublime. Some examples of solids which sublime are ammonium chloride, camphor, naphthalene and anthracene. Let us perform an activity to separate a mixture of ammonium chloride and salt.
Take a mixture of ammonium chloride and salt in a china dish cover it inverted conical transparent funnel. At the other end of the funnel put a cotton plug so that vapour could not come out. Now place china dish on a burner. As the ammonium chloride is sublime after heating it will directly converted into vapour and this vapour will again condense at the upper colder part of funnel to form solid ammonium chloride. In this way the mixture ammonium chloride and salt can be separated by the sublimation method.

A non-membranous cell organelle is ribosome. Ribosomes are extremely small, round bodies found either in the free state in the cytoplasm or attached to the surface of the ER. They are composed of ribonucleoproteic (ribonucleic acid and protein). The main function of ribosomes is to act as a platform for the synthesis of proteins.
