Acetone, petrol, perfume etc., being volatile, evaporate very fast when exposed to larger surfaces. When we put some acetone or petrol or perfume on our palm, it evaporates. During evaporation, particles of the liquid absorb energy from the surface of the palm to compensate for the loss of energy, making the surroundings cool. Hence, our palm feels cold when we put some acetone or petrol or perfume on it.

Golgi apparatus
The stacks of flattened membranous vesicles are called Golgi apparatus.
It basically stores, packs and modifies the products in vesicles.
It temporarily stores protein that moves out of the cell through the vesicles of the Golgi apparatus.
It packs and transports the materials synthesised in Endoplasmic Reticulum to different targets inside and outside the cell.

A neuron varies in shape and size depending upon their function and location. All neurons have three different parts – dendrites, cell body and axon.
Parts of Neuron
Following are the different parts of a neuron:
Dendrites: These are branch-like structures that receive messages from other neurons and allow the transmission of messages to the cell body.
Cell Body: Each neuron has a cell body with a nucleus, golgi body, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and other components.
Axon: Axon is a tube-like structure that carries electrical impulse from the cell body to the axon terminals that passes the impulse to another neuron.
Synapse :It is the chemical junction between the terminal of one neuron and dendrites of another neuron.

Mitosis | Meiosis |
1) This division takes place in somatic cells and as a result of this division growth occurs. | 1) This takes place usually in reproductive cells and as a result of this character one generation pass into the other. |
2) Completed in one stage. | 2) Completed in two stages. |
3) Prophase is smaller (as compared to prophase of Meiosis). | 3) Prophase longer than prophase of mitosis and divided into five substages. |
4) No crossing over takes place. | 4) Crossing over takes place in which exchange of segments of chromatids occurs. |
5) Synapsis does not take place at metaphase. | 5) Synapsis between homologous chromosomes takes place (bivalent stage). |
6) At metaphase, centromere is towards equatorial plate and ends of chromosomes towards poles. Centromere divides. | 6) At metaphase I, the centromere is towards poles and ends of chromosomes towards equatorial plate. Centromere does not divide. |
7) Chromatids are long and thin. | 7) Chromatids are shorter and thick |
8) Cytokinesis follows karyokinesis. | 8) After Telophase I, cytokinesis does not takes place always (may occur). |

The smallest cell is the sperm cell and the largest cell is ovum in the human body. The sperm is a male reproductive cell and they are small in size.
EXPLANATION
The smallest cell in the human body is the sperm cell.
These cells are small in volume. Head of the sperm cell measures about 4 micrometres in length, just a little bit smaller than a red blood cell (RBCs).
The largest cell in the human body is Egg cells (ovum). They are 20 times larger than the sperm cells and measure about 0.1 millimetres in diameter.

The cell membrane or plasma membrane is a biological membrane that separates the interior of the cell from the outside environment. The plasma membrane is called as selectively permeable membrane because it regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cell. It means that the plasma membrane allows some material to pass through it while at the same time it blocks other material from entering through it.

- Distance travelled is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.
- When a body continuously moves in the same straight line and in the same direction then displacement will be equal to the distance travelled. But if the body changes its direction while moving, then the displacement is smaller than the distance travelled.
Displacement ≤ Distance - Displacement in any interval of time may be zero, positive or negative where as distance cannot be negative.

Reproduction means to reproduce. It is a biological process by which an organism reproduces an offspring who is biologically similar to the organism. Reproduction enables and ensures the continuity of species, generation after generation. It is the main feature of life on earth.
Types of Reproduction
There are basically two types of reproduction:
- Asexual Reproduction
- Sexual Reproduction

Polysaccharides are major classes of biomolecules. Polysaccharides are complex biomacromolecules that are made up chains of monosaccharides. The bonds that form these chains are glycosidic bonds. Commonly found monomer units in polysaccharides are glucose, fructose, mannose and galactose which are simple sugars.
Some examples of polysaccharides are:
- Starch
- Cellulose
- Glycogen
