- A number line shows you a "picture view" of what a number is. You can visually see where your numbers are, and what other numbers are nearby.
- Larger numbers are always towards the right, and smaller numbers are always towards the left.
- The little marks along the line represent the next highest or next lowest number. Most of the time the little marks will be 1 count space apart, like 2 then 3 then 4. But sometimes the marks can be more than 1 count space apart. It doesn't really matter, as long as the marks are the same count space apart.
