Volume of a matchbox = 4 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm3 = 15 cm3
∴ Volume of a packet containing 12 such boxes = 15 x 12 cm3 = 180 cm3.

Given, f(x) = px^2+5x+r and factors are x-2, x-1/2
Substitute x = 2 in place of equation, we get
= p*2^2+5*2+r=0
= 4p + 10 + r = 0 ------------ (i)
Substitute x = 1/2 in place of equation.
p/4 + 5/2 + r = 0
p + 10 + 4r = 0 ------------------- (ii)
On solving (i),(ii) we get
4p+r=-10 and p+4r+10=0
4p+r=p+4r
3p=3r
p = r

According to Remainder Theorem, if a polynomial f(x) is divided by ( x - a), then f(a) will be the remainder.
f(x) = 8x⁴ - 8x2 + 7 and a = -1/2
f(-1/2) = 8(-1/2)⁴ - 8(-1/2)2 + 7
= 8 x (1/16) - 8 x (1/4) + 7
= 1/2 - 2 + 7
= 1/2 + 5
= 11/2

30² + 20³ - 50³
= 900 + 8000 - 125000
= 8900 - 125000
= -116100

Different method to evaluate
1. 30³ + 20³ - 50³
= 27000 + 8000 - 125000
= 35000 - 125000
= -90000
OR
2. 30³ + 20³ - 50³
= (3*10)³ + (2*10)³ - (5*10)³
= 27*10³ + 8*10³ - 125*10³
= 10³(27 + 8 - 125)
= 1000(-90)
= -90000
OR
3. 30³ + 20³ - 50³
a³ + b³ = (a +b)³ - 3ab(a+b)
a = 30
b = 20
= (30 + 20)³ - 3(30)(20)(30 + 20) - 50³
= 50³ - 1800(50) - 50³
= -90000

The decimal expansion of an irrational number is non-terminating non-repeating.
There are infinitely many irrational numbers between 0.5 and 0.55
The two irrational numbers between 0.5 and 0.55 are of non-terminating and non-repeating decimal numbers. For example, 0.512122122212222 . and 0.539399399939999 .
