6/(3√2)-(2√3) = (3√2)-(a√3) 6(3√2+2√3)/(3√2-2√3)(3√2+2√3) 6(3√2+2√3)/(9×2)-(4×3) 6(3√2+2√3)/18-12 6(3√2+2√3)/6 3√2+2√3 By comparing both sides , (3√2)+(2√3)=(3√2)-(a√3) 2√3=(-a√3) 2=(-a) a=(-2) Therefore , a = -2

S M 4 years, 10 months ago

Let √3 is rational number √3=p/q. ( where p and q are integers and q is not is equal to 0 and having no common factor ) 3= p²/q² P²= 3q²( equation 1) P is an Odd integer P= 3m Put the value of equation 1 (3m)²=3q² 9m²=3q² q²=3m² q is an odd integer So both p and q are odd integers and having a common factor 3, which condrids that p and q having no common factors. Our supposition is wrong . Hence √3 is an irrational number.
