'shadows' refers to the moisture-laden clouds which cast a shadow on the earth. patter: the sound of raindrops falling on the roof. The poet is saying that when thehumid shadows hover (here,'humid shadows' refers to dark clouds which are full of water).

n the short story 'The Bond Of Love' by Kenneth Anderson, Bruno was a the baby sloth bear who was captured by the narrator when he was passing through the sugarcane fields near Mysore. He gifted it to his wife who named him 'Bruno' and put a colored ribbon around his neck.
Bruno received immense love and affection from everyone in the family including the two Alsatian dogs and the tenants' children. It ate anything and everything that was offered to it. It spent its time in playing, running into the kitchen and going to sleep in the beds of the family members.

To answer this question, we need to understand some concepts about conditional statements.
There are three types of conditions :
I) Condition possible to fulfill.
II) Condition in theory possible to fulfill.
III) Condition not possible to fulfill.
CONDITIONS WITH (IF CLAUSE)
I) Simple present (first part) Will - future or modal + affirmative (second part)
II) Simple past (first part) would + infinitive ( second part)
III) Past perfect ( first part) would + have + past participle ( second part)
The Roman numbers represent condition one, two and three.
Examples in negative and affirmative
If I don't study, I will fail in exams.
For the question above we will find the appropriate verb that completes the sentence but we know the second part will have a 'will ' in positive form.
ANSWERING THE GIVEN QUESTION :
If I don't go to Anu's party tonight, I will remain in the house.
