Because the britishers forced the peasents to grow only indigo. This decreased the soil fertility. A time came when they had no other option then to revolt. All the peasents got involved in the revolt. Thus, there was no one to cultivate indigo. Hence, the indigo production collapsed.

During the indrustrial revolution there was a great demand of indigo in britain. But, the climate was not favorable for it's cultivation. They went to many carabieen countries. But after some time they also did'nt met the expection. As a result they came back to india. In india they got indigo at a very cheap rate and sell in high cost in there own country. Thus, indigo plantation in India was a boon for the company.

Birsa Munda was son of poor father, he grew up around the forest of Bohonda.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 3 months ago

  • In the 19th and the 20th centuries, tribals in many regions of India rose in rebellion. Birsa Munda was a tribal leader and a folk hero who belonged to the Munda tribe, born in the mid-1870’s. He was impressed by the sermons of the missionaries.
  • Birsa also spent time under a well-known Vaishnav preacher, and, influenced by his teachings, started giving importance to purity and piety.
  • He started a movement to reform the Munda society. He went against the British, the missionaries, moneylenders, traders and Hindu landlords.
  • The spread of the Munda Movement worried the British, they arrested and jailed him for two years in 1895. After Birsa was freed in 1897, he continued with his movement. His followers attacked churches and police stations, and took over the properties of the landlords and the moneylenders.
  • The movement faded out with the death of Birsa in 1900.

Given: height of first pole CD = 6 m
Height of second pole AB = 11 m
Distance between feet of poles BD  = 12 m
To find: distance between the tops of the pole
i.e, AC

Draw {tex}\mathrm { CE } \perp \mathrm { AB }{/tex} and join AC.
{tex}\therefore{/tex} CE = DB = 12 m
AE = AB – BE = AB – CD = (11 – 6) m = 5 m
In right angled triangle ACE, by Pythagoras theorem, we have
{tex}A C ^ { 2 } = C E ^ { 2 } + A E ^ { 2 } = 12 ^ { 2 } + 5 ^ { 2 }{/tex}
= 144 + 25 = 169
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} AC = 13 m
Hence, the distance between the tops of the two poles is 13 m.
