There are four main types of air pollution sources: mobile sources – such as cars, buses, planes, trucks, and trains. stationary sources – such as power plants, oil refineries, industrial facilities, and factories. area sources – such as agricultural areas, cities, and wood burning fireplaces.
Harmful effects of air pollution depend on the concentration of pollutants, duration of exposure to the pollutants and types of pollutants that caused pollution.
- In plants, it causes fruit damage, leaf damage, chlorosis, necrosis, mottled spots on leaves, less yield of crops and causes premature death of plants, etc.
- In humans, it causes respiratory ailments like asthma, hay fever, allergic diseases, etc., cancer and genetic mutations.
- Carbon monoxide (CO) released as a pollutant can combine with haemoglobin thus, preventing the supply of O2 to the cells and causing death due to asphyxiation because it leads to damage of the brain.
- The burning of fossil fuels, exhaust from automobiles, etc., release SO2 and NO2 into the atmosphere. These gases are oxidised to sulphuric acid and nitric acid in the air. They get dissolved with the rainwater falling on the earth and form acid rain.
- The various vehicle such as car, buses, trucks running on petrol release harmful gases.

A network is an interconnected collection of autonomous computers that can share and exchange information. The communication over the network involves the exchange of text/picture/audio/video data through wired or wireless transmission medium. Major reasons that emphasize the need for networks are:
- Resource Sharing: Through a network, data, software, and hardware resources can be shared irrespective of the physical location of the resources and the user.
- Reliability: A file can have its copies on two or more computers of the network, so if one of them is unavailable, the other copies could be used. That makes a network more reliable.
- Reduced Costs: Since resources can be shared, it greatly reduces the costs.
- Fast communication: With networks, it is possible to exchange information at very fast speeds.
