Tom warmwd himself by the fire. Philip drew random things which arosed Tom's curiosity. Moreover he would rather have Philip as a companion than keep looking out of the window at the rain and kick his foot against the washboard in the absence of anything better to do. He also wanted to make Philip understand not to try his spiteful tricks on him while they stay together.

Cover slips are small squares of glass that cover the specimen placed on the microscope slide. They flatten the specimen for better viewing and also decrease the rate of evaporation from the sample, both in wet and dry mounted slides. If a stain or other liquid has been added, the cover slip keeps it on the specimen. Cover slips also protect the specimens from contamination by airborne particles or other substances.

Subsistence farming is the kind of farming done by farmers who have small plots, enough only for themselves. Literally, subsistence agriculture means no extra food is produced to sell or trade. This means farming doesn't give them money to buy things. Subsistence/smallholder agriculture can play an important role in reducing the vulnerability of rural and urban food-insecure households, improving livelihoods, and helping to mitigate high food price inflation. The major examples of subsistence farming are growing of fruits , vegetable, rice , etc.
