Manual scavenging refers to the practice of manually cleaning, carrying, disposing or handling in any manner, human excreta from dry latrines and sewers. It often involves using the most basic of tools such as buckets, brooms and baskets. In 1993, India banned the employment of people as manual scavengers.

The different reasons people had for not sending girls to school were:
(i) It would prevent them from doing their domestic duties.
(ii)'They would have to travel through public places in order to reach school.
(iii) People feared that school would take girls away from home.
(iv) In many parts of the country, people believed that if a girl was educated, she would became a widow.

discount = 5% of x
=(5/100)x = 0.05x
SP = MP - discount
⇒5225 = x - 0.05x
⇒0.95x = 5225
⇒x = 5225/0.95 = 5500

Myopia is the defect of the eye vision due to which a person can see the near by objects clearly but cannot see the far objects so distinctly.
Causes of myopia: Myopia is caused:—due to the elongation of the eyeball.—due to decrease in the focal length of the eye lens.
Myopia can be corrected by using a concave lens of suitable focal length in the spectacles of such a person.
