Vegetative propagation is often used when the crop plants either do not produce seeds or when the seeds produced are not viable or are of long dormancy. The method relies on the use of pieces of vegetative plant parts such as stems, leaves, or roots to perpetuate the parent plants. These organs have buds that give rise to new individuals. Food crops such as cassava, sweet potato, sugarcane, pineapple, banana, onion, etc. are propagated vegetatively.

Groundwater is the water present beneathEarth's surface in soil pore spaces and in thefractures of rock formations. A unit of rock or an unconsolidated deposit is called an aquiferwhen it can yield a usable quantity of water. The depth at which soil pore spaces or fractures and voids in rock become completely saturated with water is called thewater table. Groundwater is recharged from, and eventually flows to, the surface naturally; natural discharge often occurs at springs andseeps, and can form oases or wetlands. Groundwater is also often withdrawn foragricultural, municipal, and industrial use by constructing and operating extraction wells. The study of the distribution and movement of groundwater is hydrogeology, also called groundwater hydrology.

Algae are plant like while protozoa are animal like because some algae are autotrophs which means they can photosynthesis like plants because they contain chlorophyll and protozoa are heterotrophs as are animals. Animal-like protists are commonly called protozoa (singular, protozoan). Most protozoa consist of a single cell. They are animal-like because they are heterotrophs, and are capable of moving. Although protozoa are not animals, they are thought to be the ancestors of animals.
