Nawabs start losing their powere because of a misunderstanding that Britishers had won in battle of buxar and plassey.S,o,they are most powerful authority. Another reason is that they can't able to understand british policies and easily trust them .Britishers misused this trust of nawabs and also betray them. Other than that, our own indeginous ruler ,nawabs and people betray us ,do not give support to our own rulers if there is a battle between nawabs V/S company.(lack of unity)
