As more and more years went by, Ernest was growing older by the day with white hair on his head and wrinkles across his forehead. But his growth was not in vain since he had more wise thoughts in his mind than his white hair. He became very famous, although the fame had flowed on its own. Ernest had become really famous beyond the limits of the valley. Many reputed college professors, active men of cities, came from far places to view and talk with Ernest. He usually received them with gentle hospitality and spoke freely with them regarding any significant or crucial topic that he or they came up with.

Let ABCD be the rhombus where AC = 10 cm and BD = 24 cm.

Let AC and BD intersect each other at O.
Now, diagonals of rhombus bisect each other at right angles.
Thus, we have

Since AOB is a right angled triangle, by pythagoras theorem, we have

Hence, AB = 13
Thus, length of each side of rhombus is 13 cm.

The Caste system in India is mainly based on the division of labour. It is a hierarchical system which divides the society into four main castes.
The Brahmins or the priests occupy the top most position in the Indian caste system. They conduct prayers, yajnas and offer sacrifices.
The second position in the society is occupied by the Kshatriyas who are the warriors. Their main responsibility is to protect the society and nation.
The third position in the Indian society is occupied by the farmers, merchants and traders.
The shudras or the untouchables occupy the fourth and the lowest position in the caste system. They do all the menial work such as cleaning toilets, sewers etc. This section fo the society has been exploited since the ancient times. They were deprived of education and a good quality life.

We have P = Rs 8000, R = 5% p.a., T = 2 years
∵
∴
=
= Rs (20
21
) = Rs 8820
Now, compound interest = A - P
= Rs 8820 - Rs 8000
= Rs 820

Microbes are also used to prepare antibiotics, which are used to treat several bacterial infections. Antibiotics are chemical substances that kill disease-causing microbes. It is quite interesting to find that there are some microbes which cause diseases; on the other hand, some other microbes help in preparation of antibiotics, and thus, cure diseases.

1. x/2 – 1/5 = x/3 + ¼
Solution:
x/2 – 1/5 = x/3 + ¼
⇒ x/2 – x/3 = ¼+ 1/5
⇒ (3x – 2x)/6 = (5 + 4)/20
⇒ 3x – 2x = 9/20 × 6
⇒ x = 54/20
⇒ x = 27/10
2. n/2 – 3n/4 + 5n/6 = 21
Solution:
n/2 – 3n/4 + 5n/6 = 21
⇒ (6n – 9n + 10n)/12 = 21
⇒ 7n/12 = 21
⇒ 7n = 21 × 12
⇒ n = 252/7
⇒ n = 36
